Ahead of the release of Jessica Jones Season 2; Oscar nominee Janet McTeer has teased her mysterious role, describing her as a "complicated" character. Here's what she had to say:
She’s complicated. What I loved about her is that there’s nothing obvious about her. Every time you think it’s going to go one way, it goes slightly another way. It feels really creative, fun and unexpected.
Not much is known about McTeer's role in Season 2, as Marvel has gone to great lengths to keep any information about her under wraps. All we know is the she'll play a part in Jessica's origin and that the superpowered PI's investigations will lead to the two crossing paths.
McTeer has previously hinted at some physicality required for her role, saying:
It’s hard enough running around when you’re 25 but when you’re 55, that’s harder.
And the production notes do offer some slight insight, saying that:
[Her character] holds crucial insights into Jessica’s past and others like her.
But that's all we have on her so far. You might assume that McTeer's character has been lifted from the comics, hence their efforts to keep her name a secret, but they did the same with Sigourney Weaver's character Alexandra in The Defenders who had no comic book counterpart. So it seems Marvel just likes to keep their cards close to their chest.
What do you think about the info we have on McTeer's character? Are you going to be tuning into Season 2 of Jessica Jones once it releases on the 8th?
