Editorial: Why I Beleive "Heroes for Hire" Should Be Made Before "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist"

Fans are just aching to finally see both Luke Cage and Iron Fist on screen, and I think that "Heroes for Hire" should be made into a movie before the two get there own stand alone films.

Personally, I think Marvel should first make "Heroes for Hire" to introduce Luke Cage and Iron Fist together on screen, rather then start out giving each a solo film and then crossovering them for Heroes for Hire.

The problem with Luke Cage I feel is that he is not exactly a "larger then life superhero", and unfortunately most superhero movies tend to do extremely well when they are BIG. Sure, he has super-human strength. But unfortunately, movie goers generally get excited when there is a superhero movie with the character actually having unique but stunning powers from others. Cage does not really possess anything different from any other superhero. Cage is almost like a lamer version of The Hulk, and so far The Hulk has not proven very successful on film.

People may relate to the character because he is basically more of a "human" with just more strength, but you never know. Also, I dont mean to be racist, but the fact that the character is "black" may add some interest to the character because there is not enough black superheroes in film.

Now, because Luke Cage is more off the streets, it could add some interest to the potential film starring him, but I dont know really. I just dont think people would care too much to see Luke Cage.

I think Iron Fist however has great potential with a stand alone film, he has an interesting story and is different from other heroes. Still, Iron Fist could flop. It really depends on how the character is adapted to the screen.

I think that making Heroes for Hire first would benefit the characters very much, and that way Heroes for Hire could be considered sort of a test run to see how audiences respond to the characters. Then, if successful, they can give each a spinoff film.

You have to admit, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are usually praised much more when they are teamed up rather then when they are fighting alone. Frankly, putting Cage and Fist together in a film would probably be more interesting and exciting to both movie goers and fans then seeing each on there own.

Since Kevin Pennington is rumored to be close to playing Danny Rand/Iron Fist, and not to long ago rumors spread that an A-list actor was in talks to play Luke Cage, could it be possible that Marvel will follow this idea?

I think "Heroes for Hire" has been a long time coming. While there are many great contenders to be considered for Iron Fist, the only actor that I can see as Cage is... are you ready?... Terry Crewes. In Marvels hands, I think this would be the role he was born for.

Terry Cruise as Luke Cage would be awesome. M.J. White isn't tall enough. Hes awesome but I believe someone taller would make sense. I Like Henry Simmons and Terry Crewes. As for Danny Rand I like Cam Gigandet and I could see Ryan Phillipe. As for Ryan Gossling...he is one of may Favorite actors and he would do the role plenty of justice.

What is it with the dropping of code names? Jean Grey is MARVEL GIRL. Luke Cage is POWER MAN. The name of the series was "Power Man and Iron Fist"! Even in the '90s the series was called "Cage"! C'mon, he's got to have a code name and an outfit! The seventies look was near perfect; it can easily be adapted to fits today's fashion trends!

@TheMyth - I disagree with you there! Michael Jai White and Ray Park would be perfect for the roles!

@Hamm3rtym3 - The '70s outfit was awesome BECAUSE it wasn't an outfit! The colors (blue and yellow)made Cage seem heroic, while the actual attire was functional and kept his appearance believably "street"! And that chain belt was just cool!

A similar tact was used with Wonder Man's "non-costume" of a safari jacket and shades with gold-plated wrist-bands! Very cool and more plausible than the other outlandish looking ensembles he's worn!

And the name Power Man? C'mon! It just SOUNDS cool!

And, yes I'm aware that "Luke Cage" was an alias! But that's simply NOT a super-hero name!!
