Jamie Foxx Was "Approached" To Play LUKE CAGE

Fans have wanted to see Luke Cage brought to life on the big screen for quite a while; and although we are now getting a Netflix tv series featuring the character, at one point a movie was planned. Before the rights reverted back to Marvel Studios, John Singleton was on board to direct a Luke Cage movie at Colombia Pictures, and it seems Jamie Foxx may have been the man they wanted for the role. With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 due for home release this week, IGN have posted an interview with Foxx (Max Dillon/Electro) in which the actor reveals that he could possibly have played Cage "back in the day", He doesn't go into any details however, simply saying that things didn't work out.

Do you think Foxx would have made a good Luke Cage? Sound off below.

There wasn't much Foxx could do with that writing. His character was a combination of bad cliches.

He could easily play Luke Cage.

I'm not going to judge him for his role in TASM2, since it's not his fault. Acting wise, he wasn't bad as Electro.

Not the best choice, but not the worst choice.

It also sucks hearing people say that he was bad as Electro. No, the script was bad, and he tried hard to work with what they gave him.

Nic Cage's superlative skills should be reserved for doing a far more important character: Arm-Fall-Off Man

Oh wow, not really sure he would've been a great Luke Cage though.

Jamie Foxx did the best he could with TASM2's bad script. They actually went with the clichéd obsessive fan turns villain route.

Hard to be sympathetic for a guy who is already crazy. It's obvious the writers were trying to make people feel sympathetic for Max Dillon, but failed to do so.

TASM2 isn't as bad as people say it is. It has flaws, sure. But what movie doesn't. Oh well. Jaimie Foxx as Luke Cage would be interesting, that's for certain.

That's the thing though, Django wasn't any form of a "groundbreaking" role for Foxx. If anything Leonardo DiCaprio left a more memorable presence than Foxx did. I can honestly see why Smith passed on the role. Still a great film though.

Lmbo! That gif is hilarious. But honestly I'm a collector so I'm really aiming towards building up my overall collection of the "latest" marvel films.

But I still enjoyed TASM2 I guess because I'm looking at it more as a "build up" film than a "stand alone sequel". I had a few problems with the overly done love story but when I thought about it, it was there for a reason. They wanted to put that much of an emphasis on Peter and Gwen's relationship so that when Gwen did what needed to be done in the end you kinda felt the impact.

Yupp! Pretty much! I say get new writers for the next film. I mean geez, the guys who wrote the spectacular spider-man series would be nearly decent to great!

Well I am doing the same I own every single CBM movie even the older bad ones that you have to get on bootleg........

To me the best part of TASM2 was the death of Gwen Stacey that whole scene had more emotion and better writing then the whole movie put together.
