Oscar Isaac is no stranger to the Marvel Universe after playing En Sabah Nur in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, but he'll make his MCU debut in Moon Knight as Marc Spector. And Stephen Grant. And, er, probably a few other personalities, too! While that X-Men movie was considered a disappointment, the excitement for this Disney+ series could not be any higher.
Talking to Empire Online, Isaac admitted that after his previous Marvel experience and the latest Star Wars trilogy, he considered walking away from big franchises. Then, Moon Knight came along. "Often on these big movies it can feel like you’re building the plane on the runway," he explains. "The idea of getting back to ‘handmade’ films, character studies. I was desperate for that feeling."
"[Moon Knight] felt 'handmade.' And it’s the first legitimate Marvel character-study since Iron Man," Isaac adds. "I thought, 'Maybe I can hijack this thing. Maybe this is the chance to do something really [frick]ing nutty on a major stage.'"
"What I love most about this thing is that it’s an exploration of a mind that doesn’t know itself. A human being that doesn’t know his own brain. I found that really moving: what the mind is capable of as far as survival. But the workload was massive: the technical challenge of embodying these different characters, physically, the way I manifest my body. It required a lot of energy."
Moon Knight arrives on Disney+ on March 25, and we're certainly intrigued to find out what taking a deep dive into Marc Spector's mind is going to look like. Last night, Marvel Studios released a Super Bowl TV spot for the limited series along with some badass new stills highlighting the vigilante.
With these comments comes a new still teasing Marc Spector's fractured mind!
