Marvel's NEW WARRIORS Has Reportedly Failed To Find A New Home And Will Not Be Picked Up

We haven't had a single update on plans for Marvel's New Warriors TV series since the news that it'd been dropped by Freeform and shopped around to new networks, and it looks like we may now know why...

Back in 2017, news broke that Marvel's New Warriors TV series would not air on Freeform after all and was being shopped around to other networks. Although a pilot was filmed and the cast later re-assembled for a BTS photo, production never got underway and we haven't heard anything since.

Now, Geeks Worldwide reports that the show is officially dead in the water.

Apparently, Marvel Television shopped the series around to several other networks (including Disney+ and Hulu), but despite hi-level execs expressing their love for the pilot, nobody was interested in picking it up for a full season.

Although GWW tend to be spot on with this sort of thing, there's been no official word on the fate of New Warriors yet, so best to take this as a rumor for the time being.

Are you guys disappointed by this development, or did you see it coming? Sound off in the comments down below.

Some properties just shouldn’t be adapted.

Dang, if Disney+ wouldn't pick it up then it had to have been a disaster. That's like Fox not picking up a Seth MacFarlane show.

@Reeds2Much -
I don't know if a "disaster", but it probably didn't fit the angle/format Disney+ seems to be going for, which is TV shows with movie-level production values. Maybe it was a little too "cable TV-ish" for the platform.

@Spidey91 - If only the pilot has been made though, future production values are not set. I think it suggests the premise just isn't viable in the eyes of the execs involved. That is saying something considering this would have a Marvel tag on it, Disney+ is dredging up the likes of Spider-man and his Amazing Friends and Hulu trots out all sorts of marginal stuff.

I'm disappointed. I thought this could work.

@Reeds2Much - Agree, they prob had flashbacks of INHUMANS. If Hulu refused it to, it must really suck. We will prob see some sorta leak soon

@Reeds2Much - I heard it was the price tag, not the production value.

@MyBeard - I think it’s also just that they already have Marvel shows and they’re trying to create distance with the non-Marvel Studios ones.

@OmegaBlack13 - I wonder if there is still enough bad blood between the film and tv divisions that some things get done out of spite.

Daredevil, for instance, could have been put into a movie like Homecoming or even Infinity War without having to do any real fancy footwork. Charlie Cox confirmed his contract included movies if called upon, but no. If there was any interest in working with the tv guys, something like this would have happened by now.

@MyBeard - I refuse to believe it would’ve been so hard to coordinate Cox, Ritter, Coulter, and Jones to be able to participate in the final battle for Endgame

@OmegaBlack13 - thry have zero connection with the mcu or the avengers. Every character in the final battle has interqcted with at least one avenger.

It would make zero sense for them to be there.

@Jeight8 - @OmegaBlack13 - I was thinking more along the lines of an NYC cameo in Infinity War, maybe just pushing a bystander to safety, during the chaos and fight with Maw and Cull Obsidian.

@Jeight8 - I feel like in a situation where Strange and the wizards are bringing in all the help they can find, it makes perfect sense for him to bring the bulletproof guy that lives a few miles from him.

Squirrel Girl can always appear in the Kamala Khan series, Marvel has been pushing their friendship in animated form for a while now. Hell, the current animated Squirrel Girl is voiced by the same actress from when the pilot was produced.

This is just sad. I was looking forward to this on Disney+, at the least.

Good. Nobody needs to see that trash-tier character called Squirrel Girl

Enough with the shows no one asked for.

@Heroic - Enough with acting like “what people ask for” has any relevance to what gets made. No one asks for 95% of the content that gets made.

@SerKurtWagner - well yeah. Kinda the point. 95% is exaggerating though.

Probably for the best because I didnt like the direction they were going for this show anyway.
