At a press conference on Monday, SONY unveiled a new TV show to debut exclusively on The Playstation Network. 'Powers' which has been in development at FX since 2011, will instead air on the streaming platform. The show originally had a full creative team in place and shot a pilot with Jason Patric and Lucy Punch in the lead roles. The co creator of the comic book himself, Brian Michael Bendis took to the stage to announce the show with crime novelist Charlie Huston and Remi Aubuchon (Falling Skies) who will also serve as part of the creative team on the project. Bendis promised casting announcements and updates during the summer. The first episode will be free to all users with PS Plus subscribers receiving the whole first season at no extra cost. The crime noir/ fantasy series follows homicide detectives Christain Walker and Deena Pilgrim who tackle cases involving people with superhuman abilities.

I love Powers. Nothing else Bendis has done has come close, as far as I'm concerned.

I remember this one scene in the comics where Deena's dreaming that she's having a super-powered shag.. and she gets shot right into the f*cking stratosphere when the dude finishes, where she suffocates.

Really gives new meaning to the term "crotch rocket". Metahuman-style autoerotic asphyxiation.

Must be fun living in a comic universe where that kinda thing's a daily occurrence. Kids point up to the sky and say "mommy, MOMMY, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!! A comet".. and somebody else says "that's not a comet, THAT'S A SATISFIED WOMAN, DAMMIT!!"

Man I'm on PSN all the time. I knew they had movies you could rent but didnt know they had a TV channel. I'll watch just to see what its about. So the pilot is free but you have to pay for the rest?

Why in hell isn't this just an animated series? This show has the stink all over it, which is especially sad since it should be super easy to adapt to TV.
