Yesterday, we finally got some new intel on Secret Invasion. The Disney+ series has all the makings of an epic espionage thriller, albeit with shape-shifting Skrulls thrown into the mix.
Despite sharing its name with a comic book event that pit Earth's Mightiest Heroes against an army of Skrulls, the TV show will focus on Nick Fury as he attempts to stop these aliens from infiltrating (and likely taking over) our planet. A story like that is exciting, of course, though we do hope Marvel Studios plans to use this concept for more than a one-and-done series.
While time will tell on that front, we still expect Secret Invasion to have major ramifications for the wider MCU as it's more than likely the story that opens the door to General "Thunderbolt" Ross becoming President "Thunderbolt" Ross!
We'll get a better idea of what to expect from the show this weekend as it's now been confirmed that a new trailer for the show will drop tomorrow, Sunday, April 2.
It's heading our way during the MLB game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Texas Rangers as part of ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. We don't have an exact time for when it will be released, but the game starts at 7pm ET.
Check out some new footage from Secret Invasion in the Tweet below.
"Secret Invasion is a newly announced series heading to Disney+ that stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, characters who first met in Captain Marvel," reads an official synopsis for the show. "The crossover event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years."
Secret Invasion is expected to premiere on Disney+ on June 21.
