SECRET INVASION Reveals [SPOILER] Is Indeed A Skrull Imposter In Action-Packed Latest Episode

Another week, another Skrull reveal as the latest episode of Secret Invasion confirms that a certain character has been an alien shape-shifter all along. You can learn more about what happened right here!

In the final few moments of last week's Secret Invasion, Varra - a.k.a. Priscilla Fury - was revealed to be in cahoots with Gravik and ordered to report in by a mysterious man on the phone.

We say "mysterious," only because we know there were many fans who failed to recognise the voice as belonging to Rhodey. In fairness, the fact he's a Skrull imposter wasn't made obvious, but that all changed in today's episode.

The imposter is shown ordering Varra to kill her husband (she doesn't), and is later depicted transforming from her Skrull form into the Avenger.

Secret Invasion's credits identify the Skrull as Raava, a relatively obscure character from the comic books who first appeared in 2017's Black Bolt #1. There, she helped the Inhuman King escape one of the Skrull Empire's prisons and was a rogue pirate who never actually learned how to shapeshift.

Needless to say, that's a history we don't anticipate being explored in Secret Invasion

Fury later meets with "Rhodey" and plants a tracker on him, and the last time we see Raava/Rhodey, it's as she/he calmly watches on while President Ritson is targeted by Gravik's team. They're posing as Russians in order to start a war, and based on how things end, we're guessing the Colonel will remain undercover in the U.S. Government for now.

In terms of how long Rhodey hasn't been Rhodey, we're assuming the switch took place between his appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Secret Invasion. The character acts way too differently for it to have been him dispensing that advice to Sam Wilson back in 2021.

Whether War Machine's armour will come into play throughout the rest of this series is hard to say, though we'd love to see it. If, for example, he uses that to attack the President, it may go a long way in setting the stage for Marvel Studios' Armor Wars movie.

Were you shocked by this latest Skrull reveal?

So this really is turning out as predictable as it seems. What a waste.

It really is going to end with Talos dying and Gi'ah leading the skrulls at the end isn't it?

I liked this show up until this episode.

That action at the end really seemed badly shot and edited.

I know Sam Jackson is an old man now, but they really could use a stunt double in some of the shots to make him at least look like he can authentically hold his own. Credit to him though for shooting as much action scenes as possible but the whole set piece looked like it wasn't thought out properly.

As far as the secret invasion goes, i really think it would have been better to do it across movies like a phase or a the whole saga. We're getting such a condensed version that it doesn't really feel like the threat it could be.

Kingsley Ben-Adir and Ben Mendelsohn are still stand outs though, and i like this version of Rhoadey, i hope he/she sticks around for a bit.

@PlusUltra - I am really surprised by the "fans" hate for this show.....this episode was so well done I can't remember when last I was so excited for a marvel product.

@TvloverSA - Love it when people put fans in quotation marks, tells me all I need to know

The show is dour, humourless dreck. Badly written, contrived and monumentally dumb with the very occasional good moment. It should be a paranoid thriller about the infiltration of earth, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers or the Thing, but the "twists" are telegraphed.
That may be why people don't like it. Glad you do but that doesn't make you a more legitimate fan.

@Radders - Mildly disagree. But that doesn't mean everyone is going to like it and clearly you don't. That said somehow I will bear that disappointment and just......go on.

Really good episode. In the scene where Fury and his wife go to shoot each other, there is a shot of a book she wrote called "Decoding the Superhuman Gene"....that's interesting
