We knew from the start Secret Invasion wouldn't quite be on the same scale as the comic book event it shares a name with, but it's so far been a terrific showcase for Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
So far, we've seen MCU vets like Everett Ross and Rhodey outed as Skrull imposters, along with newly introduced characters who are clearly key to this shared world's power structure. Whatever happens across the next two weeks, we anticipate seismic changes coming out of the Disney+ series.
If there's one thing Secret Invasion has consistently delivered, it's jaw-dropping surprises. With that in mind, we're convinced there are still some Skrulls hiding in plain sight, and we're now taking a look at 5 possible contenders for who they might be.
Needless to say, spoilers do follow, so read on at your own risk by clicking the "Next" button below.
5. Sonya Falsworth
Sonya Falsworth hasn't been as important to Secret Invasion as we initially expected. Instead of being a key part of the series, she's simply an old ally of Fury's who has factored into the series solely because much of the action is set in the UK.
However, as she's also investigating the Skrull threat to Earth, there's still a chance Sonya could be a crucial part of the next two episodes.
Will that be to help Fury or reveal herself as an evil Skrull? Now Talos has met his maker in the battle against Gravik, a heroic shapeshifter high up in the government could be exactly what his people need to help them find refuge on our planet. With that in mind, we'd say there's a decent chance Sonya is a shape-shifter.

4. President Ritson
We've seen surprisingly little of President Ritson in Secret Invasion, though that looks set to change after he was rescued by Fury in today's episode.
The Rhodey imposter is clearly a trusted advisor to the most powerful politician in the world but Ritson appeared wary of War Machine during their latest exchange. He put it down to the Avenger having a little too much to drink and certainly doesn't seem to be in cahoots with the Skrull.
As a result, we're not anticipating the President being revealed as an alien. If Gravik had one of his people in the White House, he'd have surely made use of them by now...unless this Skrull has his own motivations and will be ousted from the job once his true nature is made public!

3. Sharon Carter
Sharon Carter admittedly doesn't have a role in Secret Invasion, but her being a Skrull makes all the sense in the world. It would certainly go some way in explaining her villainous turn in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, anyway!
That seemed very out of character for Sharon, and while it's entirely feasible the events of the past few years have jaded her outlook, the former CIA Agent's actions created exactly the sort of disruption Gravik and his people likely wanted (including the fact her Super Soldiers tried to take out the new Captain America).
This is a reveal which would make for a great post-credits scene, teasing that Power Broke has her own plans for her fellow Skrulls on Earth.

2. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine
Another character who isn't in Secret Invasion, Val is definitely a strong contender for a Skrull who has her own plans for Earth. Samuel L. Jackson has said she and Fury will clash somewhere down the line, and that may well be in a follow-up to this story.
Val could just be the MCU's power-hungry CIA Director, but her sinister plots have all the makings of a Skrull who wants to reshape our planet in her image. She's already tried to kill one original Avenger, and the Thunderbolts and Sentry may be her endgame when it comes to putting down Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Ultimately, we'd argue that there's no need for Val to be a Skrull, so short of it being another post-credits scene surprise, the character is probably just a formidable Fury wannabe...

1. Nick Fury
It would be beyond frustrating for us to learn the Nick Fury we've been following all this time isn't the real deal, but what if the S.H.I.E.L.D. Director hasn't actually been the man we first saw confront Tony Stark for the past several years?
This level of retconning would require a really strong narrative in the final two episodes. Perhaps Fury died at some point, prompting one of his Skrull allies to secretly take his place and live Nick's life as Varra did with Priscilla's human counterpart. If so, it would be one helluva twist.
Heck, maybe Fury has always been a Skrull, unable to share his true face with the world. We're not convinced, in all honesty, but stranger things have happened in the MCU!
