WANDAVISION Star Paul Bettany Teases His Return As Vision: "Kevin Feige Doesn't Allow Loose Ends"

Though he's keeping mum about when we might see him in The MCU again, WandaVision star Paul Bettany is confident that he will get to reprise the role of Vision at some point.

After being destroyed by Thanos at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Vision (Paul Bettany) returned for the Disney+ WandaVision series. Of course, the synthezoid turned out to be one of Wanda's (Elizabeth Olsen) creations, but the real Vision was rebuilt by S.W.O.R.D. and showed up in the season finale after being programmed to take the Scarlet Witch down.

This white incarnation of the character later fled after acquiring his old memories, and hasn't been heard from since.

Of course, this leaves the door wide open for Vision to return at some point, and during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bettany made it very clear that he does expect to reprise the role in The MCU... even if he's not prepared to reveal when and where it's going to happen.

"No, the honest answer to that is – well maybe it's not the honest answer, but it's the answer I'm going to give you and you'll just have to cope with it – at the end of WandaVision, you see Vision fly off and that's a loose end," said the actor when asked if we'd ever see Vision again. "And Kevin Feige [president of Marvel Studios] is a man who doesn't really allow loose ends. So I assume at some point I will be putting on my tights and cloak for another outing, but I don't know when that might be."

With The Scarlet Witch set to have a prominent part to play in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there's a chance we might see Vision put in an appearance - even of it's just to attempt to set his old flame back on a heroic path.

Where do you guys think Vision will show up next? Be sure to let us know in the usual spot.

Easily my favorite phase 4 moment. I'm hoping Vision goes terminator on them. He'll probably go Terminator Dark Fate on em, with a bunch of 2nd stringers in California. 😑

Great answer. Though i'm sure he knows more than he's telling us. e. g. Andrew Garfield, Tobey and Paul Rudd.

At this point you can't trust a word these guys say

Love Paul Bettany but this comes out a day after the texts of him and Depp talking about burning drowning and sexually assaulting Heards corpse that’s crazy

@whynot - Yeah timing is bad. In Paul's defense he did seem to talk his friend out of burning Amber.

@whynot @GarthRanzz - wasn't Bettany the one that came up with the witch test?

That said, I'd probably say something similar to lighten the mood. Which in my case, often goes the opposite way

@whynot - not trying to defend the comment, but firstly they came out a year ago and secondly, it's clearly a joke between friends about a woman who was torturing Depp.

I mean they dedicated an entire show to him and Wanda’s character arc and he came out alive as White Vision… obviously he’ll be back
dagenspear
dagenspear - 4/22/2022, 10:58 AM
@CaptainDC - I don't necessarily agree with them having a lot of a character arc.
CaptainDC
CaptainDC - 4/22/2022, 1:08 PM
@dagenspear - If you put aside the entire plotline of Wanda not coming to terms with Visions death and mind-controlling an entire town to where she then loses their children through the multiverse and rebirths Vision through SHIELD... I agree

Otherwise, I think it's fair to say there's a decent amount of character arc. Regardless of whether you were a fan or not. Wanda and Vision are completely different characters in the MCU moving forward

@dagenspear - bad take. There's Hella character arc in the series
dagenspear
dagenspear - 4/22/2022, 6:12 PM
@Marveladdict - I don't agree, really, that much. I think Wanda hasn't changed much/we haven't learned anything really new about her as a character that I think we didn't already have, on both accounts.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 4/22/2022, 6:18 PM
@CaptainDC - I don't view that as a character arc, really, like that, because I don't think anything changed for Wanda, as a character, from where she was in the others movies, before this, to where she is at the end. As a character. I think things changed, in that she got a book and she got new powers, but by the end of that show, I don't see much going on that's different. Maybe that wasn't the intention. But if it wasn't I think they didn't do a very strong job at it.

I don't see how they're different, based on anything that show provided. As far as I think, Wanda is kinda loosely back where she was in AOU, as far as role wise, in a way. And Vision is, well, nothing in that show, to me, showed a real character arc for the real Vision.
CaptainDC

@dagenspear - my guy, her husband teleported into a new body and she lost her children through the multiverse… this is the most character arc she’s ever had since her introduction in Age of Ultron.

For crying out loud she revisited her parents death and the aftermath of getting experimented on by hydra scientists.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 4/22/2022, 10:26 PM
@CaptainDC - Nothing in the movie develops that Vision teleported into a new body. What's the character arc in what she did? I didn't think she wouldn't do what she did in WandaVision, before that. How did she change?

That didn't reveal anything new about her character or change her character direction.
Comicmoviejunki
Comicmoviejunki - 4/23/2022, 12:03 AM
@dagenspear - dude. She went from an Avenger saving half the universe to PTSD sufferer who kidnapped an entire town. She totally lost her mind!!! Then revisited her past lost her kids and lost vision AGAIN. Do you mean to tell me that The Scarlett Witch at the end of the series is the same Wanda from Age of Ultron!? You just as nuts as her,no offense.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 4/23/2022, 12:59 AM
@Marveladdict - She already had trauma and PTSD at the start of her story in AOU.

There was never a mental illness developed for her in WandaVision. If that was what was supposed to be happening, then I think they didn't write that well.

@Repian - I think both look pretty bad. I just hope they dont drag others with them. I think the Courts are going to lean towards Amber but its all because Depp claims sobriety ar certain times and Ambers lawyers are like look at these emails and texts. Courts dont like being lied to.

Depp isn't innocent, and there's plenty of evidence to suggest he is abusive. I have no sympathy for either of them.

Of the stuff now in development or production, I'm guessing Armor Wars is a likely place for him to show up. He'll probably request elaboration from Rhodey why he kept going after being shot down by Vision 1.0.

All that is, of course, if Bettany isn't gonna get canceled either.
