WHAT IF...? - Here Are All The Returning MCU Actors In Today's Phenomenal Episode (And Who Was Recast)

A new episode of What If...? just landed on Disney+, but who did or didn't reprise their Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, this instalment was actually the animated show's most star-studded to date...

Today's episode of What If...? rivals the second instalment (featuring Chadwick Boseman as a T'Challa who became Star-Lord) as the show's best yet. Asking the question "What If Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?", we picked up with a Stephen Strange desperate to change his timeline after the death of Christine Palmer.

That took him to some dark places, and Marvel Studios enlisted an all-star cast for this retelling of 2016's Doctor Strange. As a result, we have no actors who were actually re-cast this time!

Instead, Benedict Cumberbatch returned as Doctor Strange, while Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer), Benedict Wong (Wong), Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One), and even Leslie Bibb (Christine Everhart) all also made their respective presences felt. The only new addition was Ike Amadi (Mortal Kombat Legacy: Battle of the Realms) as a character called O'Bengh.

In terms of additional voices, veteran voice actors Chuck Billy, Robin Atkin Downes, and Fred Tatasciore could all also be heard, though we don't know exactly who they were playing here.

It certainly made a difference having all these familiar voices from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the strong level of storytelling on display ensured that this was a truly great 35 minutes of TV!

Cool idea but this series bores the [frick] out of me with its terrible writing. Gimme Hawkeye!

Well, that was [frick]ing BLEAK.

It's also my favorite episode by far, and I don't know if it can be topped.

@MarDCel - Is it just me or were there a lot of 2d animation elements mixed in? A couple of the demons he absorbed looked hand drawn and some of the lasers they were throwing at the end. Or is the 3d cel shading effect just that good??

@UncleHarm1 - you're right. There sure were some 2d elements during the monster scenes. They were quite satisfying to watch in motion.
