We're all expecting a new look at What If? to arrive shortly after Loki wraps up next Wednesday, especially as we should then have a better idea of how the Multiverse - and the "Variants" we're going to see in this animated series - fit into the tapestry of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In this leaked new look at the show (which was shared by a Turkish voiceover actor and promptly deleted from his social media accounts), we see multiple versions of the God of Mischief - but they don't appear to be Variants! Instead, it looks like this is a recreation of the final battle between Thor and Loki in the 2011 film.
This means two things; first, Disney+ is indeed heading to Turkey at some point in the near future. More importantly, What If? is obviously going to revisit and reimagine key moments in the MCU's history, and this is a scene that could tie into whatever the deal with Party Thor is in the series.
So much of What If? remains a mystery to us even as that August premiere nears, but the signs continue to point to the show having a larger impact in this world than we ever initially imagined.
The show's synopsis was revealed during last year's Disney Investor Day, and states: "'What If…?' flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways."
"Coming to Disney+ in summer 2021, Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU," it adds, "featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles. The series is directed by Bryan Andrews; Ashley Bradley is head writer."
