WHAT IF? - Marvel Studios' First Animated Series Finally Gets A Trailer Ahead Of 2021 Launch

A first look at What If? is long overdue, but Marvel Studios just dropped the first trailer for the animated Disney+ TV series, and it looks like this will be taking full advantage of its unique premise...

We didn't get any new trailers for Marvel Studios' big screen content during Disney's Investor Day, but Kevin Feige shared plenty of goodies when it comes to what they're bringing to Disney+.

By now, we're sure you've watched those first looks at The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Loki, but a sneak peek for What If? has also been revealed. Many of the scenarios teased here are familiar (footage was previously shared by Marvel in that Expanding The Universe special on the streamer), but there are a few new "what if?" scenarios teased.

The most intriguing is Doctor Strange seemingly fighting himself, while it also looks like the Sorcerer Supreme comes face to face with The Watcher at some point. Assuming the series is canon - and there's no reason to believe it won't be - it could have ramifications for what plays out in the movies.

That seems to be a recurring theme with these TV shows, and while this one is animated, that surely makes it no less important to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Check out the What If? trailer below:

Only trailer I didn’t like. Maybe it’s because I’m a huge animation buff and snob but I thought the animation style was really ugly and reminded me of Stars Wars Resistance

Should be recasting T'Challa, no actor is bigger than the role they play. The character has decades of stories that will probably never be told now, unless the reboot the mcu at some point.

Hopefully they do something that show Shuri develop befoe Black Panther 2, cause there is no way they are waiting until the end ofthe movie to make her black panther and if she becomes Black Panther as she is right now, she will basically be wakandan iron man. She need a lot more development before she is ready

So even though the answer is obviously yes I just want to be sure. This isn't canon?

@tb86 - Its only canon in the sense that the Watcher is telling stories from alternate realities. The stories themselves are not taking place in the same reality as the MCU. Each story is basically the main MCU up until a certain point where something different happens and creates an alternate timeline.

Love the art style and Wright's voice is freaking perfection as The Watcher. This is my least hyped project, but it seems interesting and I know darn well I'm crying at the T'Challa episode.
