Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has been chosen by Netflix to adapt
The Witcher series on the small screen. Hissrich will serve as the project's showrunner and also executive producer. She previously worked on Marvel's superhero dramas
The Defenders, Daredevil and Starz's
Power.
In May, Netflix announced that its actively developing an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. Apparently, the studio plans to adapt the first two books,
Sword of Destiny and
The Last Wish. Hissrich joins executive producers Sean Daniel, Jason Brown and Platige Images' Jarek Sawko and Tomek Bagiński, an Oscar nominee for
The Cathedral.
The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts
The Witcher doesn't have a release date yet.
