THE WITCHER: Get Better Acquainted With Geralt, Yennefer And Ciri With These New Character Promos

The Witcher is set to hit Netflix in 10 days time, and the streaming giant has now released three new character featurettes to bring us up to speed on the show's main players: Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer.

Each video features new footage of each character in action, along with interviews with stars Henry Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg) and Freya Allan (Princess Ciri).

If you've read Andrzej Sapkowski's novels or played the video games you should already be familiar with these guys and have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the story, although it does look like this adaptation will be taking a few liberties with the established lore here and there.

Check out the character promos below along with all of the previously released posters and stills, and let us know if you're looking forward to The Witcher in the comments.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

The ways that these actors are describing their characters and the overall themes of the show is basically perfect. The world of the Witcher is dark. Much darker than Game of Thrones (at least at its outset). But the characters remain these tragic beacons of world-weary stubborn idealism desperate for human connection. It's that genuine romanticism that makes me love the books and I hope we get that in the show.

While I understand jumping straight into the Nilfgardian invasion, I do sort of wish they had the chance to do a season of episodic adventures that more casually establish the world and set the stage for Ciri. I've always said, "never assume you'll get a sequel", but this is one property that I think could have slowed its roll a bit.

(Also, I wonder if the Mandalorian has sort of stepped on the big Geralt/Ciri dynamic, a bit. Since she's older and more of a character in her own right, I'm sure it will be fine, but we've gotten a lot of "gruff dude and child" lately.)

I tried to played the video game due to it being highly rated and I just couldn't get into it and Found it to be really boring, but this TV series looks really interesting.

Looks good. Hope this Yennefer isn't as much of a bitch as her videogame counterpart. Dumping her for Triss was so satisfying...
