AHSOKA: Hayden Christensen Rumored To Return As Anakin Skywalker Before Season Finale

We're now just a few hours away from a new episode of Ahsoka, and while Anakin Skywalker is not expected to appear, Hayden Christensen is rumored to return before/during the season finale...

Last week's episode of Ahsoka may not have been the "game changer" we'd been told to expect, but it was arguably the best chapter of the series so far, and a real treat for Star Wars fans - due in no small part to the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

In "Shadow Warrior," Skywalker took his former Padawan on a little trip down memory lane, explaining to Ahsoka that he's returned to finish her training, and that she will ultimately have to make a choice: live or die.

Following some flashbacks to Ahsoka's time fighting battles alongside her former master during The Clone Wars, Anakin returns to the World Between Worlds as a pre-armor Darth Vader, forcing his one-time apprentice to disarm him and "choose life" by purging herself of the guilt and anger that could potentially lead to the dark side.

Anakin once again becomes the Jedi Ahsoka knew all those years ago, and departs: "There's hope for you yet."

We had assumed this would be Christensen's only appearance this season (if not in the entire series), but a recently released TV spot had fans convinced he will be back at some point over the remaining three episodes, and a new rumor is now claiming to have confirmed his return - in episodes 7 and 8.

According to Bespin Bulletin, Christensen will appear in episode 7 "in the form of a hologram," and then again in the season finale. We don't have much in the way of context beyond this, but it's been claimed that Anakin will "look fondly" upon Ahsoka after the events of the finale, so he may only show up in a single scene right at the end to give the ol' Force Ghost nod of approval.

We may know more after tonight's sixth episode, so stay tuned for updates, and check out a lovely fan-made poster below.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.

Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.

I think that it's good to see Hayden get another shot at this character, given all the shit that was initially heaped on the prequel trilogy back in the day and how it affected him at the time. It wasn't his fault that he had to deal with questionable writing and directing at the time and now I think he's doing well with his second chance at the character and being able to flesh it out more.

Anakin/Vader is a pretty complex and tragic character with a lot of nuances, especially around the time when he moved over to the Dark Side, so I think that there's a lot of ground for an actor to sink their teeth in there, assuming that they're given the right writing and direction. And so far between what I've seen in "Obiwan" and "Ahsoka", Hayden's been given some really good opportunities to do the character the justice that maybe he wasn't able to earlier. Let's hope he gets some more opportunities (as long as it doesn't feel... forced (pun intended)).

I personally haven't heard or seen any new TV spot that supports this, but if it happens then cool. I've got nothing against to seeing Hayden again as Anakin and especially if it'll be as engaging as it was last week.

Zero promotion for this week's episode and we're just a few hours left before the 6th chapter airs, in my book that usually means that it's gonna be a good one if they don't wan to reveal absolutely nothing.

Can't wait.

Remember when Hayden Christiansen was like the laughing stock of star wars? Now he's the selling point. Make that what you will.

I thought it was just an ok episode. Just fan service for clone wars fans. I was hoping there would be more done with Anakin. I was hoping using him as a force ghost to continue his redemption.

New episode was solid. Not the same highs of last episode, but DAMN does Lars kill it as Thrawn.

Can somebody make an edit where the Sabine girl is not in the show as much? Im tired of waiting for her scenes to end

The vast majority of the Disney/Lucasfilm run of Star Wars has been nothing but member berries and callbacks.

Any original ideas have failed miserably.

Question: If Ahsoka was so instrumental in Anakin's growth and the plot lines during The Clone Wars, then why wasn't she ever even referenced in the Prequel trilogy?

Yeah, I know that the prequels were made before The Clone Wars and before Ahsoka was introduced, but to have a character that holds that much importance now ....
