CASSIAN ANDOR Star Diego Luna Reveals Why He's In No Rush To Start Shooting The Disney+ Series

While Cassian Andor's story came to an end in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a lot of fans are still interested in learning more about the character's past in Cassian Andor on Disney+.

It's already been confirmed that the show will touch on his childhood, how he met K-2SO, and his role in the early days of the Rebellion. With so few stories set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, there's a lot of potential in exploring this Galaxy Far, Far Away in the aftermath of Order 66 and the formation of the Empire. Cassian Andor could even tie into the events of The Clone Wars

The hope is that production will begin soon after it was delayed due to COVID-19, however, in an interview with The Guardian, star Diego Luna explained why he's not personally in a rush to start working on the show.

"Shooting is starting around the world, so slowly we’re going back, but there’s no rush," he explained when asked about Cassian Andor"To me, what this pandemic brought to my attention is that there [are] priorities. We have to be cautious and we have to be wise on when and how to go back."

It's easy to see why he would want to be cautious with everything that's going on in the world right now, and you have to hope studios are putting safety before their bottom line. Time will tell when this Disney+ series will start shooting, but the original plan was for it to arrive sometime next year.

I really hope they take the time to really work out a solid script. Rogue One might still be my favorite Star Wars movie under Disney, but I think Cassian Andor could have been utilized in much more interesting ways

I'll take "because no one cares about this character" for $500, Alex

@Dredd97 - The further we get from Rogue One the more I realize it’s just a beautifully shot movie devoid of any actual characters, outside of maybe Krennic. It was reshot to hell by a new director, so... #ReleaseTheEdwardsCut?

That teaser trailer is still the best trailer out of any of these films though

@tmp3 - Yeah I totally agree. The reshoots really killed it. And characters didn't have arcs, or interesting personalities. It just was a huge waste

@Dredd97 - Exactly! No offense to the actor and work put into the character, but out of all the characters and stories to go with in the Star Wars universe, they want to go with one that died in a one off movie...this is similar to Disney pursuing a Beauty and the Beast prequel show around Gaston and Lefou. I don't get it!

@Turtlestrong - Right? I'm sure he's capable as an actor, but as a character? Cassian leaves so much to be desired.

@Dredd97 - I care for K-2SO more, best character in Rogue One and out of all the new Disney movies.

Going to have to put this with the Solo movie and ask, who really wants this? I mean besides the people getting paid to pump out content.

Disney need to take bolder steps with Star Wars going forward, instead of re-hashing stories from familiar eras (Empire era, First Order era, Clone Wars, etc).

Give me a live-action Old Republic show with Darth Revan, original characters and planets, and I'm sold. But Lo and behold, Disney don't care about established Old Republic canon and want to scrap it in favor of their new 'High Republic' crap. You're making it real hard for me to like you, Disney Star Wars.

@GothamSon - I'm with you on that they should explore different eras on the big screen. However, I'm not sure I want to see Disney's version of Revan. Bane on the other, now that could be interesting

@GothamSon - I mean. I’m not sure why the two can’t coexist, given the High Republic stuff is about 200 years prior while the Old Republic is a few thousand.

@repulse93 - Holy sh*t, I didn't realise this. I thought one was replacing the other, since Disney has a history of doing that (all SW 'Legends' stories such as Zahn's Thrawn trilogy becoming non-canon)
