Fan Recast for Luke, Han and Leia for Star Wars Pre-ST/Post-OT

In the time after Return Of The Jedi, but before Kylo Ren ruined everything, Luke, Han and Leia can have stories to be told for their characters, so why not try with recasts who may look the roles?

There's some missed opportunities to me, and I'm sure to others, in the idea of these characters, and others, not getting the opportunities to be explored more in a time before the Sequel Trilogy and how that messed with their characters, in one way or another.

Some of these may have been in others fancasts, but I do think the beards for Luke and Han assist in their looks for the roles. For this, I thank God for these ideas:

Jensen Ackles as Han Solo

Han, using his reputation as a smuggler and criminal, has been working as a mole in the criminal underworld, gathering information on the activities of any imperial remnant cells. Han coming to terms with being a parent as well in the midst of this and his own insecurity at the idea of failing as a dad, fearing repeating the cycle of his own childhood. This leading him to struggle with whether or not his job, one that he's grown to think of as his way of having a feeling of accomplishment, as a man, a friend and a husband, may keep him from his child.

Sebastian Stan as Luke Skywalker

Luke, in this time, is working on building the Jedi Academy, raising and training children to become jedi, but seeking to avoid the mistakes of the previous era jedi by rejecting the control of the New Republic and seeking to avoid the children in his care from becoming soldiers for political causes, and training his students to understand the difference between love and attachment, as Luke trains himself to reconnect with his full identity in being the son of not just Anakin Skywalker, but Padme Amidala as well.

Yael Stone as Leia Organa-Solo

Leia has followed in the footsteps of her biological mom and adopted dad in working as a senator within the New Republic, fighting for the justice of those in need and supporting her brother's separation of the jedi from the republic. The reveal of her biological connection to Darth Vader has caused problems for her in the senate, those who oppose her trying to use it to justify shutting her out, it leading to her having to confront her familial identity as well, struggling to forgive the man who caused so much pain and loss, to herself and others.

Rebecca Ferguson as Mara Jade

Mara Jade, the former leader of the New Second Generation of Inquisitors, was brainwashed to specifically operate under Emperor Palpatine's command. Operating under her final orders given by Palpatine, she seeks to assassinate Luke Skywalker.

@harryba11zack - He's about 10 years younger than the character would be in canon and doesn't look enough like Ford to me to be after the events of ROTJ. Thoughts on the rest?

@dagenspear - Alden Ehrenreich is 34 and Han was 33 in Return of the Jedi, so he could work age wise. I thought he did well as the character, so I'd like to see him get another shot at playing him. But I think my fan cast for Han between trilogies would be Anthony Ingruber. His resemblence to Harrison Ford and ability to channel him are uncanny. Sebastian Stan is a solid Luke choice. Maybe Billie Lourd for Leia? I know she already played Connix in the sequels, but with a bit of clever make up, she could be made to look a lot like her mother. As regards Mara Jade, I love Rebecca Ferguson, so I'd welcome her as the character.

@harryba11zack - That's not as fun, to me, as recasting, and I feel there may be budget issues with that.

Is there any particular reason or purpose for this article?

@captainireland - But this is years after that.

I wondered about Ingruber, but his face is a bit softer than I prefer for an older Han, to me. I wondered if a beard could cover it, but I didn't see any pictures of him with a full beard like that. Billie Lourd is more younger than Stan and her nose is different from Leia to me, and I found that distracting. So I don't disagree with the fancast you present all together, but there were things that I personally would prefer.

Mara Jade was an interesting one to fancast, because it's a balance in looks of steely assassin, but with potential to soften into heroism.

Im with it buddy. Honestly if they can get KK out of there we could just make a new ST post Return of the Jedi. That's best case scenario for this IP that continues to take giant L's creatively. I feel like the Leia fan cast could be better but I've only seen her in Orange is the New Black.

@McMurdo - I feel like there may be room to soothe the effect the ST had on the characters, by expanding on their characters pre ST.

Thanks for the reply! Thoughts on the others?

I am absolutely HORRIBLE at fan-casting, however, I do enjoy reading other's choices & their thoughts behind them...! ☮️🙂

@dagenspear -
Well, this is simply my opinion since I was asked, the Sebastian Stan is spot on.
I could see Jensen Ackles pulling off a version of Han Solo.
I am not familiar with Yael Stone, however, she has Princess Leia look about her.
Oh, Rebecca Ferguson, I think, again, spot on...! ☮️👍

@Deadinside - Thanks. I have similar thing with Yael Stone, in her look without knowing her work.

I do like Jensen Ackles as Han Solo but it really should be Alden Ehrenreich imo.

Swap out Jensen for Alden and you've got a deal. I'll draw up the paperwork, lol.

I actually really wanna see this. I wonder if Fav and Filoni will recast them for The Mandalorian and Grogu. I would be hyped as a mother[frick]er if they did. When they recast Han Solo, I wasn't into it, but after everything we've had since? I say bring it on. Recast. Bring the characters back and lets F-ing Go!

@ObserverIO - Thanks for replying. I thank God for the civillity.

My issue with Alden is, while I can go with him fine as a young Han (even if I'd have preferred someone else at the time) we've never seen before, I find it off to have him be Han post OT and pre ST, because looks wise, I think he doesn't look as much like Ford, and we've seen Ford as Han around that time frame. It's more my preference.

Like I said, I think there's potential for it to explore these character's and their struggles and explore them more as characters in dealing with their issues in a post OT world, which I think the ST didn't do, and doing this I think may soothe some resentment against how they were depicted in the ST. Like expanding that Luke stayed in hiding because he'd hid what was left of the jedi children he trained and didn't want them to be found and he resented the prequel era jedi for allowing their padawans to become soldiers and finally showing Luke emotionally connect with the idea of Padme as his mom. Leia struggling with being Vader's daughter. Han connecting with being a dad. These are things I feel like the ST missed out on.

@dagenspear - Those are all great ideas. If we saw Luke make the noble sacrifice by going into hiding, we might not hate it so much.

Switch Ackles with Anthony Ingruber and I’d say that’s pretty solid

t this point, I’d prefer animated adventures since the original trilogy cast is either dead or old, but this *could* work.
