The latest episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi kicked off with Darth Vader's return, and yes, James Earl Jones has indeed returned to voice the iconic Sith Lord!
We first got to see how Anakin Skywalker starts his day by visiting his castle on Mustafar, which is only the second time we've spent time there in live-action following the location's debut in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. What followed was the seemingly excruciating process of Vader's armour being applied after a night in his Bacta Tank.
After a tense exchange with Reva that seemed to indicate that The Grand Inquisitor is indeed dead (leaving us very confused about how Star Wars Rebels fits into all this), Vader eventually arrives on the planet where Obi-Wan and Leia have taken refuge following their escape last week. Brutally murdering innocent locals, Anakin clearly senses his old Master and tracks him down to a nearby port.
As you might expect, "Ben" is horrified to see his old friend, asking "What have you become?" To that, Vader responds, "I am what you made me." An intense, violent battle follows, with it quickly becoming clear that Obi-Wan is no match for the powerful Sith. Using the force to hold him aloft, Vader sets a fire, and proceeds to drag his old ally through the flames.
Vader clearly has evil plans for his former master as he tells Kenobi that his pain has only just begun, but Indira Varma's Imperial deserter arrives to distract the villain and helps Ben escape. However, he's badly burned, and Leia has fallen into the clutches of The Third Sister!
Another battle is clearly on the horizon, but this first meeting between the two - while fairly light on dialogue - definitely didn't disappoint.
What did you think of today's third chapter of Obi-Wan Kenobi?
