Back in 2019, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that they are "developing something to look at" based on the classic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video games. Updates have been few and far between since, but we may finally have a little more to go on.
According to insider @MyTimeToShineHello, the recent rumor that a trilogy of movies is in development was bogus, but she claims that a KOTOR project of some description was in the works before the strikes got underway, and will return to "active development" once things are resolved.
We're not sure if it'll be a movie or Disney+ TV series, but last we heard, Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) was working on a script. This was a few years ago, so even if this report is on the level, Lucasfilm may have enlisted a new creative team.
Set almost 4000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire, Knights of the Old Republic started out as a LucasArts game released in 2003, but there's since been a plethora of spin-off novels and comic books.
The story focused on the era following the conclusion of the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comics, during the early years of the Galactic Republic. In the game, the Mandalorians invaded the Republic in a pan-galactic conflict known as the Mandalorian Wars. The Jedi were hesitant to get involved, but a pair of renegade Jedi Knights, Revan and Malak, stepped up to lead a Republic force to war.
We don't know if Lucasfilm is planning a direct adaptation, but fans have been clamouring for a movies/series based on KOTOR for many years, so they'd be wise not to stray too far from the original premise.
