THE ACOLYTE Episode 4 Stills Reveal First Look At Bazil The Tynnan Tracker - SPOILERS

You may have seen this little fella in Funko POP form already, but thanks to some new promo stills for tonight's fourth episode of The Acolyte, we have a first official look at Bazil, the Tynnan tracker who will help our heroes on a very important mission.

We're not going to go into too much detail about the episode, but if you'd rather know as little as possible before watching, here's your spoiler warning.

In an attempt to reach Mae's next target before she does, Master Sol, Osha and the others travel to the planet of Khofar, where they enlist Bazil to find Wookiee Jedi Master Kelnacca's home deep in the jungle. Unfortunately, Mae has already arrived, and she's not alone.

Tynnans were actually introduced in the 1979 novel Han Solo’s Revenge by Brian Daley, but creature & droid FX creative supervisor Neal Scanlan and his team incorporated elements of otters and beavers to make Bazil even more adorable-looking.

“We spoke about those kinds of things,” Scanlan tells StarWars.com. “We thought about how we could include some of these things that were not only, you know, cute and lovable and adorable, but also showed signs of a bigger sort of character makeup. A character like this is much more engaging. What qualities are [fans of all ages] going to see in him that they would identify with? That will only work if they feel like there's an element that they could give him a cuddle or that he's friendly. You know, it's an important part of, I think, the Star Wars world.”

Check out the new images of Bazil and Kelnacca below.

In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.

The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Leslye Headland created the series, based on Star Wars by George Lucas, and serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers. Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim and Rob Bredow are the producers.

Headland also directed the premiere episodes (Eps. 101 & 102). Directors Kogonada (Eps. 103 & 107), Alex Garcia Lopez (Eps. 104 & 105) and Hanelle Culpepper (Eps. 106 & 108) round out the directing duties on the series.

"I really wanted to tell a story about the Sith," showrunner Headland told EW in a recent interview. "That was kind of my dream Star Wars idea. But it felt like the time period to do that in would be something pre-Phantom Menace. That seemed to be the most interesting trajectory for the Sith: How did the Sith go from the Rule of Two and being quote-unquote 'extinct' to Palpatine coming into power without the Jedi knowing about it?"

Award-winning composer Michael Abels, known for his work on Get Out and Us, scored The Acolyte.

Man, so hyped to get back to the main mystery of the show. Episode 3 didn't destroy Star Wars, but it was the slowest of the season so far.

I've also heard that this one ends on a massive cliffhanger, so consider me . . . intrigued.

@clintthahamster - perhaps but I did like it especially in learning more about Mae & OSHA’s background aswell as expanding the world a bit more with this new coven of witches that use the Force in a somewhat different way that the Jedi may not agree with.

I feel like it made sense how from both of the twins perspectives , Osha in regards to Mae & Mae in regard to the Jedi that they would see them as the villains but I’m interested to see what happens when the full picture is revealed

I like them playing with perspectives since certain point of views are big in SW haha

"I really wanted to tell a story about the Sith"

Well, coulda fooled me. But I'm an incel who wants Armie Hammer to eat my ass so what do I know.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 4:25 PM
@McMurdo - It seems to be literally the origin of the Sith, though they've only shown the "Master" once so far. We're on episode 3 of 8. Could be there'll be more about that down the line . . .
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 5:53 PM
@clintthahamster - "literally the origin of the sith"

This coming from someone insisting he's a fan.

Dude, this is only 100 years before phantom menace. And in that movie it's stated the sith were thought to be extinct a millenia ago. Clone wars (which is still disney canon) confirms the existence of ancient sith like darth bane.

Are you not paying attention to basic facts about this franchise?

McMurdo - 6/18/2024, 5:54 PM
@clintthahamster - the master is literally the apothecary nerd. Origin of the sith my ass.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 6:06 PM
@McMurdo @origame - I will fully cop to being sketchy on some of the lore. I just like watching Star Wars shit. And I'd rather have a tenuous grasp of the lore and enjoy watching Star Wars, then know the lore inside and out and subject myself to TV shows that make me miserable in order to . . . honestly, I don't know what y'all's goal is, but enjoying Star Wars sure isn't it.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 6/18/2024, 6:07 PM
@clintthahamster - enjoying SW is the only goal. It's why we hated episode 3 my dude.

Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 6:10 PM
@McMurdo @origame - Like, yes, I insist I'm a Star Wars fan, because I actually like Star Wars.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 6:11 PM
@McMurdo - Worst episode of the series by far, no doubt. But every series has a worst episode. I just choose to judge shows by when they're at their best. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 6:14 PM
@clintthahamster - dude, it's fine if you just want to shut your brain off and enjoy. But not everyone enjoys star wars the way you do. Plenty of people like star wars because of the lore. In fact that's a huge reason for it's popularity. And it shouldn't be that hard, especially since THEY set up what was Canon and claimed to hire people who knew the franchise.

One thing lucas always took pride in was keeping the lore tight and respected what came before. And personally, my standard is just "follow the movies".

You don't have to agree with any of this, but stop coming after fans who want the lore to be respected.
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 6:16 PM
@clintthahamster - you like it, but you sure don't know it 🤣

We also like star wars. That doesn't mean we like anything disney pumps out. They aren't the authority of what star wars is.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 6:17 PM
@Origame - "stop coming after fans who want the lore to be respected."

Is that the new reason y'all don't like the show? Because every new movie and TV show expands on the lore. You see a contradiction, I see a retcon. I choose not to let it ruin my day. There's plenty of real shit to be worried about. I'm not going to spend my free time actively hating TV shows.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 6:19 PM
@McMurdo - Cool spoilers, guy. Just gonna reach over to that ol' block button one more time . . .
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 6:25 PM
@clintthahamster - you say this when you blatantly don't even know the lore. What do you know about what's contradictory?
Batmangina
Batmangina - 6/18/2024, 6:25 PM
@McMurdo - I'm first in line for Armie munching ass - he's gotta wear the Lone Ranger mask though.

Ghoul
Ghoul - 6/18/2024, 6:55 PM
@McMurdo - exactly! The rules and lore matter to me it’s part of why I enjoy it. I get that story elements and acting I suppose can be subjective, but the rules of the universe matter and undermining them just takes me out of the experience.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 6/18/2024, 7:14 PM
@Batmangina - yes. Armie Hammer is back on the menu baby.

You like watching the show. You are not a fan of Star Wars. This is not an insult. Fan is short for fanatic. Like, I am about to rewatch the Fallout show soon. I loved it. I am not a fan of it though because I don't care about lore or canon, I just thought it was a fun show with interesting characters. I am a fan of SW and ST because I do care about the lore and canon very much so, it's what I love the most about them. Or like, I love to root for the Jets but I am a fan of The Packers. There is a world of difference between liking and being a fan of something.

Can the wookie be the one she fights without a weapon? Just think that'd be funny and cathartic.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 4:26 PM
@Origame - To see her beat a Wookiee unarmed? That would be impressive. But it'll probably be Sol.
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 4:35 PM
@clintthahamster - well considering how it played out with a guy taking a nap

@Origame - "taking a nap"

Man, imagine the great jokes you could make if you watched the show.
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 5:39 PM
@clintthahamster - fine. He was meditating. That doesn't help the case here dude.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 5:42 PM
@Origame - So, to summarize . . . if Mae can kill a Jedi with knives, it's bad. If Mae can't kill a Jedi with knives, it's . . . also bad. If I didn't know better, I'd say that maybe there's nothing this show could have done to make you like it.
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 5:48 PM
@clintthahamster - no. If Mae can kill a jedi with a knife it's bad. If she can't get a MEDITATING jedi to even react to her, let alone her goal of killing him, with a knife, it's hilarious...

...oh, and bad because we're supposed to take her revenge plot seriously.

Better hope the rest of the jedi order are also self aware that they're in the acolyte so they'll drink the poison to get out of it too. 🤣
McMurdo
McMurdo - 6/18/2024, 5:56 PM
@clintthahamster - bro you just told him this is the origin of the sith in a series that's 100 years pre phantom. So I ask are YOU watching the series?
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 5:57 PM
@Origame - That scene was played for comedy. And yeah, dude's actions didn't make sense in the moment. As for me and my house, I'm willing to chalk that up to the fact that this is a mystery show. You're supposed to say things like "I wonder why he did that," and then the show, presumably, will reveal it over time. We're only 3 episodes into an 8 episode run. If you're not interested in waiting that out, I suggest, hell, I beg you to stop watching the show, and especially to stop complaining about it every week. Like, are there any shows you like that you'd like to talk about? Maybe find a website where they talk about those!
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 6:00 PM
@McMurdo - I misspoke. Should have said "the reemergence of the Sith." My bad dog.
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 6:01 PM
@clintthahamster - yes, because it's the best idea to have your antagonist look like an incompetent fool when killing people 🤣

Now not only is lore and Canon beyond your understanding, so too is tone.
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2024, 6:07 PM
@McMurdo - he seriously tried to correct himself by saying "reemergence" 🤣

That's like even worse than them forming. He blatantly forgot that the jedi believed the sith were extinct until darth maul showed up in phantom menace. It's the first episode but he thinks we have the reemergence here 🤣
McMurdo
McMurdo - 6/18/2024, 6:11 PM
@Origame - literally this show has nothing to do with the sith. It's about a guy who makes poison dressing up as a sith who is manipulating a group of gay witches' magic daughter to continue to be mad at her far more sane twin, all whilst jerking of to anti Jedi propoganda for sake of edging. The show is basically a meme
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 6:15 PM
@Origame - "He blatantly forgot that the jedi believed the sith were extinct until darth maul showed up in phantom menace."

You got me! I did forget that. Because Phantom Menace, and the rest of the PT, are terrible movies that I've only watched a time or two in the last 25 years. And, sincerely, I don't give a flying [frick] about the specifics of the deep lore. I'm just out here trying to have a good time, baby! It's a show about space wizards and lazer swords. When did y'all lose the ability to feel joy?
