Last month, Lucasfilm announced that a new episode of Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian will arrive on Disney+ on August 25. That's set to focus on the season two finale, an epic chapter we're sure you'll all remember featured the return of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker for a jaw-dropping battle against Moff Gideon's Dark Troopers.
In many ways, it redeemed the character after his underwhelming role in the Star Wars sequels, and while we know visual effects were used to bring the actor back to his most famous role, it turns out he was actually on set as well.
As you can see in the images below, Hamill donned his cloak from Return of the Jedi to shoot those scenes with Grogu, and this must have felt like a really special moment for him (the actor has never shied away from expressing his disappointment with Luke's portrayal in the sequels since their release).
It's going to be fascinating to watch this making-of special for Peyton Reed's season finale of The Mandalorian, and it's easy to see why Disney+ saved it for this extra Disney Gallery episode. Hopefully, we'll hear more from Hamill on what it meant to him to step back into the role at a time when Luke was at the height of his power as a Jedi Knight.
As noted, this episode of Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian hits Disney+ on August 25.
