The Mandalorian's first season was classic
Star Wars, but some fans were understandably disappointed by the lack of lightsaber action. However, there were some big hints at what's to come when Moff Gideon was revealed to be in the possession of the Darksaber during the closing moments of the finale of the hit Disney+ TV series.
The weapon has a storied history, and based on comments from star Giancarlo Esposito at the recent FAN EXPO Vancouver (via
ComicBook.com), we'll be seeing more of it in season two!
"The prop guys are wondering about me because I was in a bit of a commotion and a bit of a struggle with someone else, which I’m hoping you will enjoy when you see it," the Better Call Saul star teases. "Major, major, epic, epic lightsaber action happening on this show, and I should mention that I’m the only character in this first season who was able to be honored with having that lightsaber."
It's hard to say what he means by that last comment, but it's possible that he misspoke meant to say the "second season." Either way, it definitely sounds like Moff Gideon will be wielding that blade against someone, and it's possible we could see him go up against another Jedi given Dave Filoni's involvement and the mysteries surrounding Ahsoka Tano's fate.
As for whether The Child will wield a blade, he added: "It ain’t gonna happen, baby! Anything is possible, and you keep watching. Because although the baby has some incredible power, without having to wield the Darksaber, I think the baby is so curious about what this is. So you will be enthused and inspired when you see the scene I’m referring to in Season 2!"

This is a LEGO set that's long overdue, and that Baby Yoda minifigure is without a doubt the cutest thing you'll see today.
Well, until you click through to the next page in this post...
This interactive figure is extremely cute, and something you just know that kids will love.
It's also going to be considerably cheaper than the Hot Toys version which is set to retail for hundreds of dollars (it is, however, completely accurate to what's in the series).
This adorable little fella will be available from Build-A-Bear, and it's another item that fans will surely rush to buy the second it goes on sale.
Plus, let's face it, who wouldn't want their own cuddly version of The Child?
The Funko Pop that's being released featuring The Child's likeness is already the most pre-ordered Pop in the company's history, and these t-shirts also put the spotlight on the beloved Baby.
The question is, which of them would you choose? "Both" sounds like a pretty good option...
More LEGO. These might not be overly realistic, but they're an effective addition to the company's "BrickHeadz" line.
Baby Yoda being in his crib is a lovely touch, and the fact it's floating is definitely a bonus. The Mandalorian himself looks surprising badass here, as well.
The Darksaber made it's surprise return in the season finale of The Mandalorian.
We don't know how it ended up in the hands of Moff Gideon, but he's clearly a force to be reckoned with, and there has to be a reason he wants to get his hands on The Child.
This is kind of pointless, but an undeniable must-have.
As tie-ins go, you have to give Disney credit for coming up with this one, but you just know that there will be a lot of kids who will be pestering their parents for this one!
My wife is obsessed with these Loungefly bags, but this one is bound to be in demand from everyone. Making it look like you're actually carrying The Child on your back, this will definitely grab people's attention.
These aren't cheap, but something this cute is arguably worth every penny.
Every kid is gonna want this when Halloween rolls around!
It's not the best costume we've seen, but it's very cute and is a lot easier than painting your child's face and sticking some massive ears to the sides of their head.
