THE MANDALORIAN's Season 3 Writers Have Fans Thinking We're Getting Some Big Cameo Appearances

A new WGA listing has revealed the writers who have contributed to The Mandalorian's upcoming third season, and there's one name, in particular, that's left fans convinced they can expect huge cameos...

Fresh off the news The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on March 1, more details about the show are slowly starting to find their way online. We're hoping another trailer is right around the corner, but some interesting details about the writing team have been revealed courtesy of Writers Guild of America West (via SFFGazette.com).

As you can see below, Jon Favreau penned the first second, fifth, sixth, and eighth episodes on his own. The Book of Boba Fett's Noah Kloor joins him for Chapter 3, with Filoni teaming up with Favreau for the fourth and seventh instalments.

Filoni's involvement has understandably led to speculation those two episodes could take a deep dive into Star Wars lore as that's typically been the case when he's been involved. Seeing as the writer and director has most recently worked on Ahsoka, the expectation now is that we could see some of the characters from that show, like Sabine Wren, appear.

That's only speculation for now, but it adds up. Seeing Filoni's name on any project is always a cause for celebration among Star Wars fans, and he and Favreau have always been something of a dream team.

In terms of who will direct The Mandalorian season 3's episodes, that's a mystery. Presumably, some familiar names will be back to work on the show, with a couple of newcomers to the franchise potentially joining them. In season 2, for example, Ant-Man franchise director Peyton Reed really impressed fans with his contributions (including Luke Skywalker's epic return).

Very little has been revealed about what comes next in this corner of the Galaxy Far, Far Away, though we do anticipate the fight to retake Mandalore being the main focus now Din Djarin and Grogu are no longer searching for a Jedi. Hopefully, we'll also get some answers about the latter's escape from the Jedi Temple in these episodes.

As noted, The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on March 1.

Guessing episodes 3 and 4 will have Boba Fett and Sabine respectively, with a big reveal or cameo in episode 7. Hoping for something with Satine and/or Obi-Wan.

@bkmeijer1 - I'm thinking we'll get a glimpse of Thrawn at some point in this season.

@CorndogBurglar - could be, although I kinda expect them to wait until the Ahsoka show since he'll probably has to be found first

@CorndogBurglar - could just as easily see Thrawn (that he already has returned to the galaxy, and that is why Ahsoka is looking for him) show up though. Could really go either way I think

Unfortunately they are dropping in more and more Sequel Trilogy easter eggs. It's hard to car when that is the end game.

Please no more cgi like, just leave the character on the shelf if you aren't going to recast.

Although I enjoyed Andor more, this show is mostly great and I’m looking forward to season 3.

Can’t wait for this show to come back. As much as I enjoyed Andor and thought it was the stronger show overall… Mandalorian is still the better Star Wars show in the sense it captures the high fantasy and spirit of adventure of the original trilogy better than any show.
