John Boyega has made no secret of the fact he was unhappy with how Finn was used in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and his comments were very much in line with how fans felt. Both the former Stormtrooper and Poe Dameron were sidelined in the threequel, with their respective storylines ending more with a whimper than a bang (but hey, at least Rey got herself a new name, eh?).
Boyega has reportedly met with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy to discuss how his character was used in the Star Wars sequels, but could that have led to his own Disney+ series?
According to a new rumour doing the rounds online (via StarWarsNews.net) a series is in the works that would tell Finn's story before he joined the First Order and what happened to him following the events of Episode IX. Considering he spent most of that movie trying to tell Rey he might be force-sensitive, we're guessing that would focus on his training or perhaps pick up with him as a Jedi.
Still, this is definitely a little hard to believe as we can't imagine the likes of Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac showing up, and their absence could be hard to explain unless Finn has left the Resistance.
J.D. Dillard and Matt Owens were said to be working on something Star Wars related in early 2020, but the report claims that it's now become this potential Finn series. Ultimately, we'll have to wait and see what happens with this one, though there's no denying that it's an idea with some potential.
Would you like to see Boyega return to a Galaxy Far, Far Away for his own Disney+ show?
