NAOMI's First Episode Will Reportedly Include A Cameo From A Major DC Comics Superhero - SPOILERS

There's plenty of excitement surrounding Ava DuVernay's small screen take on Naomi for The CW, and a new report claims the series premiere will echo the comic books by including a major DC Comics cameo.

Production has begun on Naomi, The CW show based on the DC Comics series by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell. With Ava DuVernay (who recently exited The New Gods movie after Warner Bros. pulled the plug) working on the adaptation, there are a lot of reasons to look forward to what promises to be an exciting, diverse new addition to The CWVerse.

We'd been led to believe that Naomi won't take place in the Arrowverse, but a new report from Film Stories claims we will see a major DC Comics superhero in the premiere episode.

As the site explains, the first issue of the comic book picked up with Naomi McDuffie witnessing a fight between Superman and Mongul in the small town she lives in. However, in this series, "Naomi, as played by Kaci Walfall, is going to be even more surprised to see Superman fighting in the sky over her town because, as far as she’s concerned, Superman is a fictional character."

We don't know if Superman & Lois star Tyler Hoechlin will play that Superman or why Naomi wouldn't think he was real. If it's near the start of the Man of Steel's career and he's rarely been captured on camera, it would make sense if some people thought his existence was just an online hoax.

We'll have to wait and see, but adding Superman to the mix is a big deal, even if it is just a cameo.

Stay tuned for updates on Naomi

Its Hoeclin if its Supes. Routh is done and Cavill would be too busy and expensive.

@emeraldtaurus - Maybe they haven't decided yet and his face is not shown. What if they recast?

@mastakilla39 - not sure they'd jump ahead of the JJ Abrams "POEC" Superman reboot. But yeah...would be cool. Corey Hawkins would be a good fit .

Man, why does CW do this? Just set everything in the Arrowverse. If there is never a crossover, fine, but there's a good chance you'll want to feature the character in one of the future crossovers if she proves successful, and that way you don't have to come up with some contrived reason as to why she ends up fighting alongside the Arrowverse heroes.

You fixed it with the other shows, just put it all in the Arrowverse going forward fam.

@Fishandchips - They will eventually crossover and pull a Stargirl or Black Lightning on this show. Hopefully it's Tyler's Superman. He's been killing it as Supes lately.

@AtakanKaratas - for sure, just set them in the same universe initially, nothing is lost from that and it just makes it so much easier to eventually cross them over should the choose to/

Oh hell yeah, Tyler is a great Supes!

@Fishandchips - To be fair, the character comes from another universe in the DC multiverse. I think her father takes her to the main universe cuz he was running away from someone. Im not sure. I just read her story once in the latest JL run.

@AtakanKaratas - at the moment i think hoechlin's superman is the current dceu superman sincenthe tone of the new superman series is totally different than arrowverse

@Fishandchips - Arrow and Berlanti verse have 2 separate creative teams who don't work together. Therefore both have different actors, plot, and tones. Star Girl, Titans, Doom Patrol, and upcoming Green Lantern Corp may never meet Batgirl, Supergirl, or Flash for that reason. CW airs HBO Max shows but to my knowledge there are no plans for them to ever meet or come together.

@AtakanKaratas - To my knowledge Superman (Tyler) is supposed to be out of the CW shows because Superman & Lois was originally made as a DC Streaming Service exclusive and that's why it has a different tone. It was moved to CW because DC streaming service was shut down but Stargirl, Titans, and Green Lantern Corp are supposed to be HBO Max exclusives and those actors/characters are supposed to stay exclusive to the streaming service too.

But with Stargirl & Superman & Lois's success in S1, not sure if they are re-planning their TV strategy.

Anyone seen Black Lightning: Painkiller episode?

It was an interesting change, not sure if I can call it good, but I liked the character.

Also, the fights were pretty cool, similar to Red Hood, and it would be our first Cw Anti-Hero.

The only thing I really hate is when there are 5 people with guns and they don't shoot, even though he was right in front of them. But that's just Cw standard.

@UXASIS - I wasn't too hyped about it when it was first announced but to my surprise I really liked the "Painkiller" episode and would definitely look forward to it if it was to get an actual series order. And yeah I get where you are coming from with the fight scenes but if you look at it again you will notice that the bad guys did indeed start shooting, and lot more than what you may remember. I really liked the premise of his internal conflicts, the two sides of himself and the supporting characters are interesting to boot. Not sure about the city they are in, I know they wanted to give it a sort of Blade Runner feel but will see what the future holds. This will be more than a decent replacement for Black Lightning once its run ends. Definitely looking forward to it.

@Mugens - The city looked really futuristic, which I don't mind.

A Painkiller and Naomi show is great, too bad we won't get GA and the Canaries.

Never heard of the character and putting a cameo of Superman isn’t as intriguing as you’d think.
