The First Official Look At Sony Pictures' VENOM Movie Is Set To Arrive Sometime This Week

We're not sure if it'll be a teaser, a poster, or simply a still from the movie, but the first official look at something from Sony's Spider-Man spin-off, Venom, has been confirmed for this week...

We've seen quite a few behind-the-scenes snaps already, but our first official glimpse of Sony's Venom movie should be online at some point this week.

IGN will be debuting several first-looks at some of 2018's biggest releases over the next few weeks, and they've confirmed that the Spider-Man spin-off will be first out of the gate. Whether that'll be a poster, a look at Tom Hardy in costume or something else entirely remains to be seen, but it definitely seems a bit early for a trailer.

Then again, you never know - a brief teaser probably isn't out of the question.

Keep an eye out, and we'll update if we find out any more details in the buildup to the reveal. Venom is set to hit theaters this October.

Tom Hardy and Venom guarantee I see this, but the writers of Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Dark Tower have my expectations super low.

@ELAYEM - Yeah. As much as I hate Sony and doing this without Holland's Spidey, i'm such a Hardy fanboy and will see any of his movies. I'll just think in my head that it isn't Venom and named something else...will hopefully help.

Also, I actually like Ruben Fleischer in the director's chair. Strange choice on paper for this project on paper, but I like his movies.

@Menks123 - I have a feeling this movie is going to be critically panned, but I'll end up thinking it's somewhat enjoyable despite some bad parts.

Kinda like Suicide Squad and Apocalypse

@Menks123 - how do we knew Spiderman won't be involved in some way?

@Antithesis - Ofc we don't and i'd be very giddy if they're able to hide it until release or a final trailer. I would just hope it would be Holland's spidey and not like a name drop as CW does for heroes like Batman, you know?

@Menks123 - I'd be happy with a well done cg web swing through the city.

@ELAYEM - Yeah...tbh, I actually think this has a good chance to have a good reception. The writers are really the worst part about it, so it can be really bad...even with the cast they got so far. I'm going in with super low expectations like you said.

The fanboy in me, and i'm sure a lot of us will be disappointed if it has no connection to Spiderman in some way. It would be amazing if Feige and Pascal did this secretly and put it into the MCU, but i'm definitely not holding my breath for that lol.

@ELAYEM - Low expectations are known to help increase the odds of enjoying almost anything. Sure beats expectations that are too high.

Yes, Tom Hardy as Venom certainly makes me want to see it even more. And the R rating.

Regarding the writers, I sometimes have to remind myself that many aspects of the film stories that we don't like are not the writers' fault, but that of "studio interference". And it is the writers' jobs to do what they are told.

If the low points of "AS-M2" and "TDT" are actually their fault, hopefully they learned their lessons and we'll see better writing in "Venom".

I'm really looking forward to this. And with low expectations!

These guys seem really confident about this, which in turn makes me more confident.

This trailer will definitely lead the narrative of this film. Hope it's a good trailer. JL aside, 2017 was a superb year for comicbook movies

Cool, Tom Hardy's reason enough to watch it for me, he's one hell of an actor, but i've been punched in the balls by Sony before so yeah, is a little bit hard as well to the take the fact that this movie is happening after all and the reasons behind it. i have faith in Tom Hardy, and as always with every single movie i've watched, i'll go in with an open mind.

This is a make or break for me. I still don't think a Venom movie should be done without Spider-Man, we'll see how it looks

[frick] this movie, so many possibilities with Peter going to space in Infinity War and Avengers 4, where he could have found the symbiote and Sony [frick]s that up because they are so [frick]ing greedy, I smell a flop.

@SpaceBeyonder - Also Reed Richards could reveal the terrible truth about the black suit.

Poster most likely. Or an official pic. This could be a modern day Blade of sorts. A cool action picture first and a comic book movie second. This lent Blade a rather distinct sense of personality in hindsight.
