Andy Serkis Shares VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Update And Teases His THE BATMAN Role As Alfred - EXCLUSIVE

SAS: Red Notice star Andy Serkis teases his role as Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman, while also sharing an update on his Venom: Let There Be Carnage plans (including how much fans want to see a trailer).

Andy Serkis' latest movie is SAS: Red Notice, an action-packed thriller which is set to be released in the U.S. on March 16th, and in the UK from today where it will premiere on Sky Cinema.

Of course, the actor and filmmaker has a lot of other exciting projects in the pipeline, including a starring role in The Batman as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's loyal butler and right-hand man.

We don't know much about what to expect from this iteration of the iconic DC Comics character, but attempted to get some intel from Andy during our recent interview with the iconic actor.

Some of our American readers may only be familiar with the SAS from knowing that Alfred Pennyworth has a history with them; is there any common ground between your take on that character in The Batman and George Clements in SAS: Red Notice?

I mean, if I get into any sort of discussion about that, I’ll get taken out by someone, I’m sure. Yes, I think there probably might be some little bit of crossover, yeah, for sure. I can’t tell you any more [Laughs].

We're not exactly going to take that as confirmation this Alfred has an SAS background, but Clements is no stranger to that world and private security, so a tougher Batman: Earth One take on the butler does seem likely.

The Batman isn't the only big comic book movie project Serkis is working on, of course, as he's stepped behind the camera to direct Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

The filmmaker wasn't willing to give too much away, but did share his excitement for the sequel.

I’m so excited for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but what has it been like for you, as a filmmaker, to pit those two characters against each other, and have you been able to bring some of you mocap expertise to that?

I’m super excited about it. Again, it’s not something I can particularly talk about right now because we’re saving it for when everybody can go and enjoy it in the cinema. I don’t want to blow it or talk about it too much before then, but I’ve had a ball working on that film. It’s been great. [It’s] another bunch of brilliant actors, and it’s headed up by another keen SAS man, Tom Hardy [Laughs]. I hope you won’t feel disappointed. It was a real pleasure working on it.

I can imagine, and after you had that taste of the Marvel Universe with Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther, it must have been very cool to step behind the camera to take charge of that world.

Exactly. I’m so excited about that coming out.

Awesome. I hope we get a trailer soon, but everything is so crazy with COVID....

I know! I think that’s the question I get asked more than anything else: ‘When is the Venom trailer coming out?’ [Laughs]

We wish we had a little more to share, but massively appreciate Andy going off topic to answer some questions...he couldn't really answer! However, there's lots of fascinating insights into his SAS: Red Notice role we'll have to share with you next week as we take a deep dive into that project.

For now, here's the action-packed trailer:

@soberchimera - but Venom:Let There Be Carnage is the comic book movie I want to see most this year.

I think they'll learn from their mistakes with Venom, the 30 minutes of the first outing is the best bit.
marvel72 - 3/12/2021, 1:32 PM
@marvel72 - last 30 minutes.

I really want to see the Carnage trailer. Tom Hardy going up against a crazy Woody Harrelson, under Andy Serkis' direction, is something to look forward to.

I’m looking forward to seeing Venom vs Carnage... still a little disappointing that Spider-Man doesn’t play a prominent role in his own spiderverse spinoffs. Also wasn’t a big fan of Symboit vs Symboit in the first film and doing it again in the second film. The only saving grace is that Carnage is an insane murder and that will make it more interesting than an insane rich guy.

I love Serkis' work but I'm really going to need to see his Alfred to be sold on it.

The thought of V2 is bile inducing at best. I hope it doesn't stain his rep.

Pull Hardy’s performance back and let’s avoid calling Brock a pussy for starters. When Hardy does that weird finger thing and says, “aliens.” Yeesh

Just drop the damn trailer already. Give us something to consider and enjoy until you decide to release the film. Anything at this point.
Just a poster or image.

This better not get delayed again... 'Let There Be Carnage' already xD

It IS expected to move from it's june 25 date according to deadline, because F9 took that date recently.

F9 is a much bigger tentpole than Venom 2, so it is going to move in my opinion.
October is very likely, as the first one did good there.
