With the cast and crew of Venom: Let There Be Carnage doing the rounds to discuss the sequel, the subject of Spider-Man is coming up...a lot. ComicBook.com is the latest outlet to get some insights from actor Tom Hardy, pushing him for details on that piece of fan art he shared on Instagram of Venom chowing down on Tom Holland's wall-crawler (it was swiftly deleted).

"That is like little Spidey legs hanging outside the mouth of Venom, isn't it?" the actor responded. "That's wish fulfilment, that. Of course, it's in our minds all the time. Look at the photo! That's little Spidey legs hanging out of the teeth of Venom. It's really specific."

"I think you can't do a Venom story without knowing Spider-Man is in the mix. He's somewhere. But we all know there's a big constellation of events, you know, that need to move and operate around. As grown-ups, we have to go, 'Okay, we wait.' We wait for those planes to land and when they land, we'll see if we can get on one but until then we focus on the task at hand which is Venom 2."

However, the Eddie Brock actor concluded with one more tease, saying: "But it's always in the back of our minds, you know? 'When do I get to eat the Spider-Man?'"

All the comments from Hardy (and director Andy Serkis) are beginning to become much of a muchness, but the gist is that they were focused on the Venom sequel this time around and there's still plenty of ground to cover before the symbiote crosses paths with Spider-Man on the big screen.

Despite that, we'd be shocked not to see Spidey swing into Venom 3 given the clear interest from fans! That said, it's possible that Sony Pictures is taking a slow-burn approach, and that a different antagonist will be front and centre for Eddie's next solo adventure (Toxin is one likely candidate).

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set to be released on October 1.
