We've all been wondering when we'd get a proper look at God of War: Ragnarok, and a new trailer featuring cinematic and gameplay footage debuted tonight during Sony's PlayStation Showcase.
Seemingly taking place a few years after the events of the last game, the story picks up with Thor (who's not quite as chiselled as his MCU counterpart) hunting Kratos and Atreus after the former managed to kill his brother Baldur at the end of the last game. It looks like the now teenage Atreus has accepted his true nature (he was revealed to be an incarnation of Loki), and appears to be more hesitant than ever to follow his father's orders.
There's some awesome gameplay footage on display here, as Kratos dispatches waves of enemies with his signature axe and Blade of Chaos. We also get a glimpse of new characters such as Angrboða and Tyr, as well as returning favorites Mimir and Dwarf brothers Brok and Sindri.
Check out the trailer below along with a new poster, and let us know what you think.
God of War: Ragnarok still doesn't have an official release date, but it is expected to hit shelves next year for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
