News pertaining to this year's sequel to the DC Comics-based fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, aptly titled Injustice 2, has been dry in recent months. However, that may be about to change. The verified promotional Twitter account of Injustice 2 posted a cryptic gif that features an antagonistic Superman grieving over an unidentified corpse. The gif was posted alongside a date that says 17 January 2017 (which happens to be next Tuesday), apparently implying some sort of reveal. Given that what we know about the plot of Injustice 2 is minimal, we will likely get some story details, based on the nature of the gif. Gods Among Us ended with the villainous Superman being dethroned from his dictatorship by the remnants of the Justice League and then sent to prison. Of course, he probably isn't going to stay there for long.
Injustice 2 will reportedly be released on 16 May and will feature a variety of characters from the DC Universe, including the likes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Red Lantern Atrocitus, Supergirl, and more to be announced. The game will be playable on Playstation 4, X-Box One, iOS, and Android mobile devices.
