It looks like New Line's
Mortal Kombat reboot has found its next fighter.
According to
Variety, Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin (
Power Rangers) is in talks for the role of heroic warrior Liu Kang. Should he sign on for the project, he'll join
The Raid's
Joe Taslim as Sub Zero.
Lin recently starred as martial arts expert Lance in the "Striking Vipers" episode of
Black Mirror, and his impresive performance may well have brought him to the attention of first-time director Simon McQuoid. He also had a supporting role in producer James Wan's
Aquaman.
Plot details on the new movie remain a mystery for now, but it's assumed that it'll follow the basic premise of the original video game: a group of warriors assemble to compete in a tournament to protect the Earth from the demonic forces of Outworld.
Mortal Kombat is set to commence production in South Australia later this year.
