Growing up I was fortunate enough to have parents that bought me my first few gaming consoles before I was old enough to buy them for myself. I spent hours upon hours playing games ranging from Burger Time on my first intellivison, Donkey Kong Country on SNES, among countless others. But as long as i can remember, video games featuring comic book characters were always my favorite.
I still have most of my old games and looking at the dusty cartridges I fondly remember playing Spiderman/Xmen: Arcade's Revenge, TMNT: Turtles in Time, I even have the Tim Burton Batman movie games. But with the advancement of technology, the recent explosion of comic book media in the mainstream I can't help but look forward to the possibility of what these companies will bring next.
There are many upcoming games that look great, recent games that were a lot of fun, and some I have probably missed or never heard of.
Marvel Universe: The Game
Granted, there are smarter and more clever people out there who can give these better names than I can. This game would be a free roaming game inside of huge maps similar to the GTA series or the very fun Arkham games. In this game you can travel around the world to different cities and find all of your favorite Marvel characters and play as each of them in their own campaign.
Wolverine might be in Canada or Japan, Black Panther in Africa, Union Jack in the UK...you get it. With portals and ships the player can travel to other dimensions (Dr Strange, Ghost Rider, etc) other planets (Thor, GotG).
The possibilities are virtually limitless! Each character would have its own set of abilities, strengths, custom vehicles and weapons. The player would be able to build up each character's attributes and skills like strength, driving, intelligence, etc.
Visit underwater worlds, space travel, even a gladiator style arena to challenge other characters to battle. Hulk vs Goliath, Deadpool vs Cable, Black Widow taking on Elektra....
Playing an action game with Spiderman, F4, Blade, Xmen....my brain could barely handle it. And imagine the online community it could have. The quality and massiveness of the game I'm picturing in my head would probably be one of the most expensive games ever made.
Thoughts, ideas? Or any good games that you recommend I play?
