STREET FIGHTER Live-Action TV Adaptation In The Works At eOne From ASSASSIN'S FIST Creative Team
It's something fans of Capcom's mega-successful video game franchise have wanted to see for many years, and it's now been announced that there's a live-action Street Fighter TV show in the works...
According to Deadline, Entertainment One/Mark Gordon has closed a deal to develop, produce and finance a small screen adaptation of Capcom's best-selling series of Street Fighter video games.
The show will have the creative team behind live-action web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, Joey Ansah, Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding, on board as executive producers.
As you might expect, the series will be based on 1991's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, and feature Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li as the main characters, and M. Bison as the main baddie
.
"Though on different journeys, our heroes’ paths will cross as they are drawn into the World Warrior Tournament, a competition devised by M. Bison to find the most powerful and capable fighter in the world. On the journey they come to share, they must draw on their strength, skills, intelligence and loyalty in a battle to survive and emerge as the World Warrior."
There's a lot of potential here, and a great opportunity to introduce a whole host of diverse fan-favourite characters if the show is a success.
