Brad Peyton's RAMPAGE Movie Starring Dwayne Johnson Sounds Insane In The Best Way Possible

Brad Peyton and Dwayne Johnson will next team up for Rampage, and the director talks here about the movie which will pit The Rock against a giant gorilla, lizard, and wolf as they tear across the US.

Brad Peyton proved that he knows how to destroy cities on a large scale when he directed Dwayne Johnson in earthquake disaster movie San Andreas, and after that proved to be a hit at the worldwide box office, the two will reteam for video game adaptation Rampage. In that, the wrestler turned actor will take on a gigantic gorilla, alligator, and wolf as they tear their way across America, and while this big screen take on the 80s Midway Arcade title sounds like fun, will it actually end up working?

WeGotThisCovered.com recently caught up with Peyton, and he told the site all about his plans for the movie and confirmed that he'll be using the three monsters mentioned above just like in the game.

"With Rampage, we are using our love of the original game as our inspiration. Then we’re going to build a movie, like San Andreas, that is really going to surprise people in what it delivers. It’s going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect. So you look at that original concept about a lab that affects these animals and makes them rampage, and that’s the nugget. If they called me tomorrow to do Call of Duty, I wouldn’t want to play any of the Call of Duty games. I’d have to come up with something that deserves to be its own thing. That’s where a lot of these movies can go wrong."

"I’m really excited about Rampage. It’s a monster film, so the stuff that I did on Incarnate, stretching my muscles in the horror space helped. This “small, character piece” with horror in it trained me to get ready for [Rampage]. Obviously, it’s a much bigger movie and it’s meant for a broader audience, but there still horror elements, there’s still a monster movie at the core. And I get to work with Dwayne [Johnson] again, I’m so excited about it. There’s the three, the lizard, the ape and the wolf, so we’re keeping it similar but you’ll have to tune into the tease on where we are going with this."

As I said above, Rampage really does sound like it has the potential to be a fun movie, but it could ultimately go either way. With Johnson set to take on a leading role, chances are it will be a hit either way, but here's hoping it's better than the last time the actor starred in a video game movie because we'd obviously all like to forget Doom ever happened! Do you think Rampage is a good idea? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on the new details revealed above in the usual place.

As someone who's played the game (or at least the PS2 version), I don't really see how you can make a "scary, real" film version of it.

@TheNewGuy123 - he also explained past projects he worked on as inspections as well as what tone they are going for? Have you seen the new Godzilla? It will probably be in that vein.

The Rock is slowly going out of his way to ruin my childhood. Jumanji, Baywatch, Rampage.

Clay Fighter will probably be next.

@Nightmare - you haven't seen literally any of those things that Dwayne has alegedly "ruined" for you.
Nightmare
Nightmare - 11/29/2016, 5:23 PM
@Yaf - A huge muscular guy and a bunch of skinny model looking chicks as lifeguards. Efron might look believable.

@Ryguy88 - I didn't use past tense, buddy. "To ruin" meaning its going to happen.
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 11/29/2016, 5:30 PM
@Nightmare - yeah that's obviously my point - how can he ruin something that he hasn't done yet?
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 11/29/2016, 5:33 PM
@Nightmare - and the way you worded you comment insinuated that he has already ruined Jumanji, Baywatch and Rampage and may in the future ruin Clay fighters.

@Ryguy88 is right ! The Rock hasn't ruined anything since the movies have not been released yet.

As much as I like the Rock I can't see this being a good movie right now. Him versus the 3 of them?! I figured he would have at least been playing/mo-capping one of the creatures...

Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 11/29/2016, 5:23 PM
@antman8o8 - what? Are you expecting him to actually fight the monsters himself?
antman8o8
antman8o8 - 11/29/2016, 5:49 PM
@Ryguy88 - Yes lol, from what I've gathered about this movie it's gonna be him and a group versus taking the monsters down.
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 11/29/2016, 5:56 PM
@antman8o8 - you mean like, The Rock is going to be punching a giant lizard in the face?
antman8o8
antman8o8 - 11/29/2016, 6:04 PM
@Ryguy88 - Or you know, use weapons, gunships, bombs, etc to take them out. Concept really isn't hard to understand. It's Godzilla with 2 other creatures causing havoc across America.
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 11/29/2016, 6:21 PM
@antman8o8 - dude I was joking because you made it seem like you wanted him to fight the monsters in some unconventional way. Obviously it's going to be a Godzilla type movie.
antman8o8
antman8o8 - 11/29/2016, 6:29 PM
But I do want him to do that lol and I know you were joking!

He's dangerously close to becoming overexposed imo and in the worst way.

Why Jumanji?

The greatest crime of all...Big Trouble in Little China.

You can't replace Jack Burton. Another soulless, empty and nonsensical remake like "Poltergeist" or "Total Recall."
