The first trailer for 20th Century Fox and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed has finally arrived. Watch as Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is thrust into the secret age-old war between the Assassins and the Templar Order, while reliving the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, a member of the Assassins. Callum will relive Aguilar's memories through the Animus, a device that allows him to explore the lives of his ancestors, and the key to his survival.

The film has been confirmed to be canon to the Assassin's Creed game universe, and it will feature important characters from the game series, such as Alan Rikkin (Jeremy Irons), the CEO of Abstergo Industries, and the grand master of the Templar Order. Why Rikkin has emerged from the shadows remains a mystery, but if the Grand Master of the Templar Order is involved, then things will not bode well for Callum. Do you think Assassin's Creed will break the video game movie curse?

ASSASSIN'S CREED hits theaters on December 21st, 2016.

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

ASSASSIN’S CREED stars Academy Award:registered: nominee Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past, 12 Years a Slave) and Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises, La Vie en Rose). The film is directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth); produced by New Regency, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, DMC Films and Kennedy/Marshall; co-financed by RatPac Entertainment and Alpha Pictures; and distributed by 20th Century Fox.

@xDeathStroke - The music tells me the film is going to suck. All flash and ZERO substance.

It looks good, but man does the music off set the trailer. Why not go with some generic epic ost instead?

Other than that, considered me hyped.

Have to catch up on the games. Never finished Unity and never started Syndicate.

That look's just like the game, which is fricking awesome. This skyrocketed to my top 3 most anticipated this year. If anyone wants to see or get a feel for what this movie will look like, watch Macbeth, it has Fassbender in it but also this director Justin Kurzel, who is just brilliant.

This is the movie that will be bringing the video game movies to the fold.

Oh and the song is reallllly bad. I understand them trying to go more modern and shit, but that was a bad choice.

If you take out the shitty Kanye, that would've been a perfect trailer.

Fassbender (anything with him is worth the price of admission)✔
Stellar cast ✔
Striking visuals ✔
An obvious love for the source material (costumes and locales look amazing)✔

As a big time fan of the games, I say:

@ComicsBornAndBred - Yup.....I was calling it how much faith I have in this movie with Fassbender and Justin Kurzel directing, just wanted to see how much they really would put into the movie.....and it looks so epic. They barely even showed the fight scenes, but judging by the parkour.......we're in for a treat.

@Menks123 - I agree. Kurzel did some great work with Macbeth and the Snowtown Murders. He's got an eye for visuals and inventive storytelling. I'm pumped.

Fassbender can't dissapoint either. And Marion Cotillard is in this. Love her

@ComicsBornAndBred - Having it set in the same universe as the games definitely helps keep it true to the source material. This actually looks promising.
