MARVEL'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Cinematic Introduces Grand Unifier Raker And The Universal Church Of Truth

A new cinematic from Eidos-Montreal's upcoming action-adventure Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy introduces Grand Unifier Raker, one of the many characters you'll meet that's inspired by the comic books.

Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal are back with a new video for the upcoming action-adventure game Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Today's video is a cinematic clip that introduces us to Grand Unifier Raker and the Universal Church of Truth.

The clip picks up with Star-Lord and his crew coming face to face with Grand Unifier Raker and his two bodyguards, the Inquisitors. Rocket is quick on the trigger, but as we see, the Grand Unifier Raker can not be harmed. He also has no interest in harming the Guardians as he instead wants to introduce them to the mysterious Matriarch.

The cinematic ends with a dramatic shot of the Universal Church of Truth's massive starship approaching the Hala's Hope.

As explained by Bill Rosemann, Marvel Games' VP and Head of Creative, Grand Unifier Raker is inspired by the comic book character called Cardinal Raker who first appeared in 2008's Guardians of the Galaxy #2. He's the founder and one of the leaders of the Universal Church of Truth, a grand institution who want to spread their beliefs throughout the galaxy.

“Collaborating closely with the team at Eidos-Montréal generated the incredible opportunity to delve into the Marvel archives, tap into some of our deepest cuts, and bring to life characters not previously seen outside the pages of classic comic books," Rosemann said. "Grand Unifier Raker, the Universal Church of Truth, and previously revealed characters like Lady Hellbender and Cosmo are just a taste of what fans should expect from this game, where decades of Marvel stories shaped this new universe. It’s original, it’s outlandish, It’s 100% Guardians!”

As was previously revealed, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy features close to six hours of interactive cinematics. As an action-adventure RPG, the decisions you make during some of these cinematics will alter how the story unfolds.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is set to launch on October 26, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and streaming via GeForce NOW. It was also revealed that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will launch with NVIDIA DLSS and Ray Tracing for PC. A Cloud Version of the game will be available for Nintendo Switch in select regions.

I love Guardians of the Galaxy, that being said…Star-Lord as the only playable character is questionable. And Avengers wasn’t great…I guess we’ll see

@Cbmfilmjunkie - Yea a LOSH movie franchise could be amazing. Even got lots of potential for spin-off shows and movies like L.E.G.I.O.N., Legion of Substitute Heroes, Wanderers, Science Police etc. There are so many good storylines from the comics to take material from!

The new Marvel Future Revolution game for mobiles blows anything Square Enix has done with the IP out of the water. How they squandered that opportunity. Disgraceful.

Not a fan of the character designs and the voice for Drax couldn't be a worse fit. After how Avengers turned out, this is a no from me dawg.

Without the games-as-a-service shit they smeared all over Avengers, this should be fine. It won't reinvent the wheel, but it looks like a good time.

At least better than that wet fart about Midnight Suns. Might as well be another mobile game.

I like that the game takes a lot from the comics and not just stuff we know from the movies. Except the looks ofcourse, they should've just looked to the comics for those too

I really appreciate how bold and out-there the character designs are. Some of the designs are legitimately not like anything I've ever seen before.
