DC Studios Boss James Gunn Responds To Claims They've "Booted" Gal Gadot From WONDER WOMAN Role

With DC Studios not expected to unveil its 8-10 year plan until early next year, rumours continue to swirl about what James Gunn and Peter Safran have in store for the DCU.

Recently, we've been hearing that, following Wonder Woman 3 being scrapped in its current iteration, Gal Gadot's time as Diana Prince has ended. All signs point to the entire DCEU roster of actors being replaced, with Henry Cavill the first to go after it was recently revealed that he will not reprise the role of Superman in Gunn's planned reboot.

Responding to a fan on Instagram who accused him and Safran of giving Gadot the "boot," the filmmaker said: "I'm not sure where you're getting that we 'booted' Gal."

Now, these comments can be interpreted in any number of ways, including the possibility that, rather than firing the Wonder Woman actress, she's simply been told her services are no longer required! Gunn and Safran met with Cavill to tell him his time as Superman is over in what sounds like an amicable parting of the ways, so the same may have happened with Gadot.

It's also possible the actress is in line to play a different character, similar to how Aquaman actor Jason Momoa looks set to swap out the King of Atlantis for Lobo.

It would be very odd, and confusing, for a new Superman and Batman to share the screen with the DCEU's Wonder Woman...with Momoa joining them as Lobo. With that in mind, a full-blown reboot still seems like the best way to go for this franchise, though Gunn continues to choose his words carefully when interacting with fans.

Unfortunately, we'll just have to wait and see what happens next with answers unlikely to come our way until 2023 at the soonest.

Would you be sad to see Gadot's time as Wonder Woman end?
