As one of the 3 biggest characters in all of DC Comics, Wonder Woman has never been given the proper credit she deserves.  Superman has been on the screen in some way every decade since the 1940s and Batman has been on the screen in some form every decade since the 1940s EXCEPT the 1950s.  Both Batman and Superman have had numerous animated series and live action films.  If you count the origin series Gotham, Batman has had 2 different live action TV series while Superman has had 4 (Adventures of, Superboy, Lois & Clark, and Smallville).  Wonder Woman has only had one live action series, no animated series, and 3 pilot attempts, all of which were failures.

With an animated series, Warner Brothers and DC Comics could further fuel the interest in a live action film.  They could go the route Batman The Animated Series did, and take inspiration from the film or they could create their own original story.  They could also add new villains that become canon as Batman and Superman did (Harley Quinn and Livewire were both introduced on the animated series).  Plus, seeing the character in new animated adventures leads the fans to want to see a live action version of those stories.  Plus, the Wonder Woman animated was met with great critical praise and sold very well also.

Her origins would definitely more than provide enough visuals for an animated series with the Gods and Goddesses and her rogues gallery.  There would also be the visuals of Paradise Island/Themyscira.  An island paradise could be interpreted in so many different visuals that the creative team would be able to really open their creativity.  This also fails to mention the creatures that could be created to inhabit the island not seen elsewhere.

Unfortunately, the hard sell would be the fact that Wonder Woman is a female.  Without a doubt, she is the most famous of all female characters and is much more able to stand on her own than many male characters.  The problem is, so little action is devoted to females.  This is another reason she would be a great candidate for an animated series.  The name Wonder Woman would definitely entice viewers from her legion of fans, plus would be appealing to young girls.  Now, if only the heads at Warner and DC would see what I see in the potential for the character...

Nice article. I´ve wanted one for a long time. They should establish Gateway City Themyscira, her rogues like Ares and Dr Psycho and her story lends itself to something children adults and girls can all enjoy.

@aresww3 - After I wrote this I saw an article saying they killed Young Justice because girls were getting more into it than boys and they won't buy the toys. I know in the end it's all about profits, but it is sad that they don't just say, "Let's make toys and merchandise to target the female audience of the series and maximize our potential."

Good article, but can I give you a piece of advice? It could do with an image or two to break up the text. Just purely for layout purposes. Also, next time if you can try and find a thumbnail image that is kind of the right ratio to fit nicely in the thumbnail box, it might look a little neater. I'm really not trying to bash you I promise! Just helpful hints for next time.

I agree she should get a series and you make all good points! Not the biggest WW fan but pretty much the only reason I know anything about DC is because of the Bruce Timm animated series (which I loved). The point is, that an animated series can create a huge number of new fans.

@TheManWithoutFear - Appreciate the constructive criticism. Wrote this while at work, so didn't have the best ability to add pictures, along with the fact I haven't figured out the whole adding pictures completely yet. :-) Thanks again, though!!!!

I agree with this. Say what you will about Marvel, but at least they are making an attempt to use various heroes. DC has always been way to Superman and Batman centric.

@SnapperCarr - Thanks!!! The trouble with Marvel now is they are focusing solely on the live action, and the quality animated series of the 90s are a thing of the past. X-men and Spider-Man were 2 of the best superhero cartoons made, and now Marvel tends to turn out animation truly geared to a much younger audience, not including the older fans and parents like they used to.

You are 100% right. They made a good green lantern series and they cancel it, those idiots. Now we have only the terrible marvel animated. Dc always made better, but they stoped and its a real shame:(

@MrSuperheromoviefan - I thank you for your comments, however, I disagree with DC always making better shows than DC in animation. Super Friends is a great show that I love, but it is because I grew up with it. Marvel produced Spider-Man, X-Men, and Hulk in the 90s that were very well written and enjoyable at any age. However, they have gotten away from that and now they just make cartoons geared to a much younger demographic. Even the Avengers is not what it could be. GL was a great show as well as Young Justice, but unfortunately, WB and DC seem to want to produce more shows like Krypto and Teen Titans Go. No matter how I try, I can never get into those shows.
