Warner Bros. officially announced commencement of production on Wonder Woman 1984 today, and the press release was accompanied by a couple of images of returning stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, confirming that the latter's character will indeed be resurrected (at least, that's the assumption) for the sequel.

Now, it's become clear why the studio chose to release some official stills from the movie, as several photos and a video from the Washington DC set found their way online shortly after.

At the very least, these shots seem to confirm that Steve Trevor will be back in some physical capacity, and won't just be a vision or apparition as one theory suggested.

Check what we have below, and be sure to let us know what you think is going on here in the comments. Wonder Woman 2 hits theatres next year.

So are the going to do the same thing with Steve Trevor like they did the 70's WW TV series and have this Steve Trevor be his son with the same actor?? LAME!!!

@krayzeman - There’s been nothing that even remotely suggests that’s.

I don’t like anything about this movie so far. I don’t like the setting, don’t like the choice of villain, the actress for that villain and the fact that steve isn’t just apparently back. Having it set in the 80’s and having Steve come back basically just makes it so that the ending of WW is pretty much completely void, same with her awesome introduction in BvS. I was hoping this series would stick closer to the Greek mythology side of her mythos like Brian Azarellos run but it seems like it’s not so I’m not really interested

@Ha1frican - It's DC. Were you expecting anything more?

@Ha1frican - I have to say, I completely agree with every single thing you said. The only reason I'm excited for this at all, is because I really liked the first one. But every new detail they reveal gives me a bad feeling about this movie. I hope I'm wrong.

Just like Infinity War? Be consistent now.

@Baf - ...what are you talking about? There’s a difference between knowing something isn’t going to be permananet and actively messing up the timeline.

@Ha1frican - I'm saying that if you think having Trevor come back makes the ending of WW null and void then it stands to reason that you would think having the dusted Avengers come back makes the ending of IW null and void. And they will.
Both movies, impactful deaths at end, later resurrected. I just don't see that much of a difference other than the length of time the characters are presumed permanently dead. Trevor-65ish years, Avengers-5ish years.

@Baf - I guess the difference is that Steve Trevor sacrificed himself to save the day and his resurection undermines that whilst in IW it wasn't a sacrifice they were just killed.
I have more issue with the fact that WW didn't bother getting involved with WW2 and that in Justice League she sites Steve as being the reason she walked away - which clearly by this film she didn't - they seem to be rewriting their own continuity

So what we know so far:
Diana is still a fashion icon.
This might be another fish out of water comedy with the roles reversed for Diana and Steve...
The film tackles some serious issues.
Steve - the Summer Soldier - is back.
I'm in.

@Pantherpool - it also seems like the AIDS crisis is going to be adressed. Whihc sounds very intriguing for a superhero film.
Though I think Wonder Woman is the best choice for that issue.

Super12
Super12 - 6/13/2018, 2:03 PM
@manofillintent1 - yeah, i have to agree. As great as Chris Pine was it makes no sense to bring him back story-wise. Raise him from the dead, Steve Trevor Jr., whatever it is, it takes away from his sacrifice and some of the beauty of that movie. Not to mention what we know of Diana's inner journey so far.
