Wonder Woman Dead in the Water

Many of you will remember that it wasn’t that long ago that a Wonder Woman movie was just another of the movies we were anticipating. The inimitable Joss Whedon was writing a killer script, and Morena Baccarin was in the running to play the Amazonian Princess. How quickly things can change.

Joel Silver, who has been onboard to produce the film, has spoken to reporters while promoting Fred Claus. Essentially, the movie has been placed on the Warner Bros. back-burner. "They're going to make the Justice League movie, and we're kind of pausing on Wonder Woman now," Silver said. “Let them go ahead and do that picture first."

We know that Wonder Woman is going to be a part of the Justice League movie that has been all across the headlines recently. Thus, given what we know about the JL film, Silver added to reporters "…if that comes together, Wonder Woman will be a part of that story. And then we'll see where we go from there. But we struggled with it for a while. I hope that we can solve it and make it one day."

That’s the news, but how much sadness are you feeling right now?

When we knew that Joss Whedon was behind the script for the Wonder Woman movie, we had high hopes. Now, we’re going to be dealing with an actress that is chosen to fit in to an ensemble cast (both financially and talent-wise).

The bottom line is simple; Warner Bros. should take a leaf out of the Marvel playbook, and create movies for those characters that will eventually end up in a team movie.

Once again, more ranting over at my blog! I’d appreciate all your comments, as do each of you!
