Wonder Woman 2 director Patty Jenkins has revealed that fans shouldn't expect more of the same when the highly-anticipated sequel finally hits theatres.

ET caught up with Jenkins last night at the Palm Springs Film Festival where star Gal Gadot was being honored with the Rising Star Award, and the filmmaker told them that she's working on a "totally different" film to the original DC blockbuster.

“We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us. It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier [to do].”

We have heard rumors that the sequel would be set in the '80s during the Cold War, but nothing had been confirmed yet.

Jenkins was also asked about a possible cameo appearance for original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, who would have shown up in the first movie had her schedule permitted it.

“We’ll see. Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn’t work, so she’s always been a part of our Wonder Woman family. We won’t say anything yet, but we certainly—there’s no lack of trying.”

Wonder Woman 2 is currently set for release in November of 2019.

Hope it takes place in modern day. Especially with her revealing herself to the world at the end of Justice League.
