WONDER WOMAN 1984: Is Chris Pine Playing The "Real" Steve Trevor In The DC Sequel?

It's no secret that Chris Pine is reprising the role of Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984 but is the actor playing the "real" version of the character seeing as he's, you know, dead? We may have an answer.

Warner Bros. may have revealed a handful of official images from Wonder Woman 1984 but they've left us with more questions than answers. Yes, we now know that the sequel is definitely set in the 1980s (during the height of the Cold War) but how is Steve Trevor alive and seemingly not a day older than when he flew a plane full of poison gas into the sky and blew it up decades earlier during WWI?

That remains to be seen and everything from time-travel to some sort of imposter is definitely plausible. However, the most likely possibility could be that this Steve Trevor really an evil imposter!

Well, that's not the case according to Twitter user DanielRPK (who have been a reliable source of DC Films intel lately). He says that Pine is playing "the real Steve Trevor" in Wonder Woman 1984 and we're once again left with a lot of big questions as a result. One thing's for sure is that it will be very interesting seeing Diana Prince reunited with her former flame and seeing what comes next for him.

Could it be that he makes it into the present day? Justice League didn't make it sound like that was the case but the events of that movie are unlikely to have an impact on the
DCEU moving forward.

As long as Ben Affleck isn't in it,it won't matter about who the others play.

Pretty sure all will be explained soon. But, tbfh, I'm just glad Pine is back. He has so much charisma and talent. He was one of the few things that helped me sit through that horrendous Into the Woods movie. We need more Pine in our lives.

It's his son.

Steve Trevor Jr.

He might even be Diana's son too.

@MaximusTheMad - I hope it's magic, and we have a Doctor Fate cameo, that would be [frick]ing sweet.

I’ve already said my piece about how I only wanted Trevor to return as a hallucination / spirit guide / mystical test or some other non-corporeal entity and I’ve speculated that this wasn’t actually the real Steve and that Diana would end up having to kill him but at this point I think I’m just going to wait and see what Jenkins delivers.

She's more than earned my trust.

Also there's a joke somewhere with the surname Pine and giving me wood, but I've not found it yet.

The comics had a Steve Trevor Jr. somewhere down the line, maybe this one will be the original's grandson.

This is such a stretch and proves that Patty Jenkins is desperately trying to get from under the creative restrictions placed upon her by BvS. It also is a statement as to if the studio believes that Gadot can carry a film on her own and the truth of the matter is that people did not flock to see her in Justice League. The most appealing thing in Wonder Woman was the relationship between Steve and Diana and unfortunately that is why Wonder Woman was probably overrated and now they are moving "time and space" to recapture the one really strong element about the first film.

I mean, I guess there's a chance he could be some kind of apparition/recurring vision Diana has. Kinda like Jean was in The Wolverine?

Wasn't WW in a self imposed exile for 100 years?

Wouldn't anyone notice/remember/take a picture of an Amazon flying around and throwing dudes through walls and shit in the 80s?

Curious to the retcon at work here...
