EXCLUSIVE: Make-Up Designs For The Blob From X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (Video)
Amalgamated Dynamics Incorporated is giving us the first look at their latest video, which details the make-up design for The Blob (Kevin Durand) from 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Marvel Comics' supervillain, The Blob (Frederick J. Dukes), was originally intended to be in Bryan Singer's first X-Men film, but the character's budgetary demands were too much to overcome. The character's name did make an appearance on a list of mutants in X2: X-Men United. But it would be Gavin Hood's X-Men Origins: Wolverine that would finally unveil the first live-action version of The Blob, played by Kevin Durand. The ninety-pound fat suit that the actor wore was sculpted by the team over at Amalgamated Dynamics Incorporated and you can view a video below showcasing the make-up design for it.
"The challenge of taking Blob off the comic page and putting him in front of the camera was developing a look that was massive, but powerful. The script required him to be huge from overeating so it couldn't all be muscle. And it had to work as a practical effect that actor Kevin Durand could bring to life." - StudioADI
