Brian Michael Bendis Insists That His X-MEN (KITTY PRYDE?) Movie Is Still Being Developed At Fox
Last year, we heard that Brian Michael Bendis was writing a mysterious X-Men movie titled 143 for Tim Miller and despite the Disney/Fox merger, he insists that he remains hard at work on the screenplay.
It was around a year ago that we learned comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis had been hired by Fox to pen the screenplay for another spinoff movie set in the X-Men Universe. No specific details were revealed but we learned that it was being referred to as 143 and would more than likely revolve around Kitty Pryde. Deadpool director Tim Miller, meanwhile, was attached to direct.
With the Disney/Fox merger expected to be completed between March - June, it seems pointless to continue working on any of these X-Men movies because Marvel Studios plans to reboot the franchise and presumably won't be releasing any of them now.
Bendis has confirmed that he's still hard at work on the project, though, but that really doesn't make a whole lot of sense for the reasons mentioned above. After all, he was part of the creative committee that Feige scrapped the second he was able to make Marvel Studios a separate entity to Marvel Entertainment and he'll have his own ideas for how the X-Men's adventures will now play out.
For now, though, it seems to be business as usual at Fox even if that means a lot of people are wasting time and money developing projects which will never see the light of day (speculation that Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants will never end up happening continues running rampant as well).
As always, we'll be sure to keep you updated but stay tuned for more details as we have them.
