DARK PHOENIX Music Video Reveals A First Look At Dazzler In Fox's Final X-MEN Movie

Dark Phoenix is just a couple of weeks away and, well, excitement isn't exactly at an all-time high! However, many comic book fans will be psyched to learn that Dazzler looks set to make an appearance...

Remember the mid-2000s when a lot of blockbuster movies would have tie-in songs with cheesy music videos? Well, Dark Phoenix is fully embracing that trend by teaming up with Emeli Sande for "Extraordinary Being." It's a decent enough tune and it includes a fair bit of footage from the movie.

At the 2:00 mark, however, we get to see a blonde woman in a white jumpsuit who is using her mutant powers to create some pretty impressive looking light energy.

Any X-Men fan worth their salt will be well aware that this is more than likely Dazzler, a character who has been confirmed to make an appearance since 2017. At the time, rumours swirled that Taylor Swift would play the character and the studio debunked that, all while confirming that Dazzler was set to appear in some form. It's thought that she may be played by Halston Sage (The Orville).

Unfortunately, as has become commonplace in Fox's Marvel movies, she's probably just going to be another mutant in the background and won't play any sort of meaningful role in proceedings.

On the plus side, she does look cool but probably not cool enough to save Dark Phoenix based on the leaked plot details which have been doing the rounds and rumoured behind the scenes issues.

What do you think about this take on Dazzler?

I am going to guess that Jean goes to Genosha and Dazzler is performing there in a mutant night club.

I know this franchise become shitty as f*ck, but still don't deserve this kind of shitty music...

@Zoolitron - Anytime current music (current to when the movie is/was released) is used it is immediately dated. This is a song that will most likely not be remembered. Sony and Fox always tried for their shameless plugs but Macy Gray, Eminem, Nickelback, this lady, all don’t work for a timeless movie. The only exception was Black Panther but that utilized the extraordinary cultural moment to put music and movie all in line, on theme. Kendrick Lamar is our Dylan so he’s exempt from a shallow cash grab.

@SanFranLand - Kendrick is not “our Dylan” ... not sure what you even mean by that.

@SanFranLand - ya, I lost you when you got to Dylan. Please explain

@deathlok1982, @capnMurphy2021-
Kendrick won a Pulitzer Prize in music. He is our poet laureate atop boundary-pushing compositions. In short, we gonna be talking about him as an important musical figure for some time.

@SanFranLand - i agree that he is a fantastic “musical figure” but I do not think that his cultural impact or relevance will be anywhere close to Bob Dylan... not even close.
But... I’m open to being wrong (if we revisit this discussion in about 30-50 years).
Dylan is still culturally relevant...

....Goddammit early-80's Dazzler. Why couldn't you be sort of awesome like late-80's Dazzler?

@Natebest Heads up, the annoying ads that cover the screen and keep popping back up after exing them out are back.

Say what you want about the mid 2000s superhero tie-in songs but I still get pumped when I here "Hero" by Nickleback.

Emeil Sande is a damn good artist. Very underrated. Too bad all of your first introductions to her had to have been a song for this movie.

Not an impressive video. It felt like a typical, freshman-film school, first semester edit.

As for Dazzler, it's nice that were finally getting a character who always worked best in the 70s and early 80s, not in one of the films that took place in those decades but in the film set in the 90s. Great job!

Incidentally, this may be the 1st X-Men film I don't bother paying to see in the theaters. I'm just waiting for the MCU reboot, at this point...

I feel like this movie will be just ok with some cool moments and action. Definitely looking forward to the final Quicksilver scene. They know its the last one so hopefully they just go all out.

This is a boring song.
They should have made a 90's pop song played by Dazzler herself.
There's more Storm fighting Squid-Hair than Dazzler in this video.

Probably to make him actually LOOK like Sonic the Hedgehog.

@L0RDbuckethead - A week after Birds of Prey.

I'm Still thinking BoP will be a hit and Harley and Joker will be a big BO draw for the females and CBM crowd.

@CBMFilmJunkie - Only time will tell. I'm inclined to agree with you solely because of the Margot/Harley Quinn love.

I think the movie will leave a lot to be desired, if the set photos are any indication.
