Simon Kinberg Offers Updates On Plans For X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, X-FORCE, And The Long-Delayed GAMBIT

X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg shares some details on those reshoots, how things are coming along with Drew Goddard's X-Force, and a positive update (again) on Channing Tatum's Gambit...

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have some new updates on a variety of upcoming Marvel movies currently in the works at 21st Century Fox. While it's fair to say that the vast majority of them will probably never see the light of day due to the Fox/Disney merger, producer Simon Kinberg remains positive (and you can't really blame him considering the fact that it's business as usual for now).

Talking about those reshoots for X-Men: Dark Phoenix - which Kinberg is also directing - he did his best to make it sound like we shouldn't be too concerned about them. "It’s normal for all these big movies now," he revealed during a recent interview with the site. "We’ll go back when we can get all those actors together, and then it will give me enough time to have it ready and looking perfect."

As for that long-delayed Gambit movie, it's still in the works (really) and Kinberg promises that some good progress has been made recently. "We have a really great script for that, and we’ve met with a bunch of directors in the last couple of weeks." At this stage, we'll simply believe it when we see it.

Finally, talk turned to X-Force and despite the fact that the team will come together for the first time in Deadpool 2, the producer is still mulling over team ideas for Drew Goddard's planned spinoff. "Drew, Ryan, and I sat down and talked quite a bit about what X-Force would be, but we haven’t on settled who those characters are yet. But certainly we’d want Cable and Domino to be part of it."

Talking of Cable, here's a brand new shot of the character in action in this month's Deadpool 2.

@Danbito - There's no way that film will be made under the FOX banner.

It will still be a while for Marvel to take over, we will see some more movies out of FOX. You guys have to keep in mind that revenue still needs to flow in from FOX studios......

After Infinity War, don't they realise how amazing it could be if their characters also entered that universe?

I still think it is too soon to jump and the gun say these aren't happening Josh. A lot can happen.

Dark Phoenix, New Mutants and X-Force sound interesting for me.

@NinnesMBC - Dark Phoenix is most defiently coming out.

Putting aside the fact the deal won't be completed until next summer anyway.

I may be wrong but I think every x-men related film has made a profit. And let's assume Disney has control in Jan 2019.

Disney is spending 50+ billion to buy Fox. It would be stupid to not release Dark Phoenix inorder to (a) not through the money already put into it and (b) make a profit,

Not to mention (which I think is a main reason Dark Ohoenix was delayed) it being released in Feburary/ early Marvh. The lack of competition helped the box offices of Black Panther, Logan and Deadpool (note I'm note minimising that they a great if in their own right).

That’s why I keep saying Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, and X-Force are definitely coming out.

Anything else after 2019 is a BIG NOPE

I'm only holding my breath for X-Force.
An X-Force directed by Goddard sound too good to be true, but i wanna believe it!
But when it comes to the Ragin Cajun... Yeah right eheh.
