Editorial: No More Of Bryan Singer's X-Men

This is an article where I'd like to voice out my problem with the Xmen director, Bryan Singer.

As you all know, Bryan Singer is probably one of the people who revolutionized the comicbookmovie industry. I certainly won't take that away from him. He gave us fans 2 good X-men movies which resulted as stepping stones for a few future marvel movies.

But i just want this guy away from the franchise. Why should i care for a director who couldn't even give a damn about his own continuity?

Havok as Cyclops father? GTFO!
Then how can you explain seeing Scott as a kid when Xavier uses Cerebro. That's just one of many.

Which is my biggest problem. I'm giving him a pass for Wolverine Origins (as he wasn't involved but should have) but he is responsible for timeline discrepancies which happened with X1, X2, and First Class where he had a big part as a producer... oh, i also hold accountable him for X3 because he decided that he's too big to finish the trilogy resulting to the ruining of the franchise... plus, he took Marsden with him and crapped out a boring superman movie.

As i watched his x-men movies again, i suddenly find myself saying that he did a nice x-men movie (which is the first movie) and a great Wolverine movie (which is the sequel).

I actually welcomed the idea of Logan not doing a cameo in FC but no, Singer had to put Jackman in, because he doesn't believe X-men won't work if Wolverine isn't there.

When you have X-men as the title of the movie, you don't go ahead and make a Wolverine and friends film. Logan always worked as the nay sayer of the group and the one who often challenged the leader. But because of Singer's vision, Logan ends up hugging all the screen time. And the rest can virtually say "take a hike."

Fox doesn't have a good anchor for their movies (unlike Kevin Feige and the marvel films) that's the reason that Singer/Fox x-men will go over the place. Singer's vision is limited to his imagination. I mean, Look at what Matthew Vaughn did with First Class (good). Jan Favrou with Iron Man 2 (bad)If Singer directed that movie, we would have ended up with a two hour Bryan Singer fantasy.

So this is what i want, get Bryan Singer out of the picture and get another director. A good one (unlike the asshole who made Origins whose name i refuse to mention. Make a bible and stick to it. Don't make too realistic. Not every movie has to be nolanized.

Thank you for reading.

i haven't really got a problem with singers x-men movies,x-men had its moments & x-men 2 is my fourth favorite marvel movie.

its really everything that came after x-men 2,that is what f*cked up the movie continuity.

i'm gonna give him a chance he is trying to adapt one of the best x-men storylines of all time & as long as its not too far from the source material i.e x-men first class,it should be a good film.

Listen, Marvel has enough to do right now. I thing Singer has done and is doing a very good job at X-men. So no boycotting Fox or Sony, They are both doing good. I like The Amazing Spider-Man.I like the X-men. Marvel or not, Sony and Fox did a GOOD job with it.

@ superman2013

i thought every scene nightcrawler was in was pretty cool & well acted.

-the white house scene

-when jean & storm find him in the church

-when nightcrawler teleports & saves rogue when she falls out of the blackbird after it got hit by a missle.

-when he teleports himself & storm pass a thick metal door.

that's all i can think of without watching the film.

you really should get some of your facts straight.

singer kept continuity throughout the first two movies other than the double castings of pyro and shadowcat.

the continuity throughout the rest of the franchise can and should be blamed on the writers/lauren donner/gavin hood, and matthew vaughn.

singer acted as silent producer and kept a distance from the franchise till now with big projects like superman, valkyrie, and jack the giant killer over the last few years.

I love the X-men but to me all the films are nothing like the X-Men... The origins are wrong, costumes, timelines...

Fox is killing the X-Men... Marvel Studios need to get their propities back - FAST!

people often jump on the hate director bandwagon so easily that they dont realize other producers, writers, and directors are sometimes more responsible.

while i do agree with you that superman returns was dissapointing, it did however pay homage to a directors whos vision, that without we may not have 50-60% of the comic book films we have today.

so its partially understandable why they chose to go back to the past instead of doing a modern update to superman.

marvel should get their properties back eventually but for the mean time they are better off with the companies that will use them instead of keep them on the shelf while they make other more profitable films

For the time being he made the genre acceptable and braught it to a wider audience. The continuity was fine, obviously there was no xmen origin story so who knows who came and went. I think the first is better than x2, x2 is a little too drawn out at times and lengthy. The opening was great though. I also think x2 should have been the third movie and not made it a trilogy, I think it would have been better with more story between 1 and 2

Isn't Havok Cyclops' uncle in the movie-continuty. In FC Havok was in prison for accidentally killing a man who had insulted his sister, This sister is ofcourse Scott's mother.

Also, this article is so stupid that it makes me want to give the writer a good old-fashioned simpsons-paddling.

@jesse Really good to hear someone say that X1 is the better of the first two, and the Nightcrawler opening is the only reason I could ever see why. Damn all that Stryker and son crap. I did like the Pyro/Magneto dynamic though.

@Tainted Nice highlight reel! Whatever flaws, I'll always love all three.
