Director Josh Boone Says He Wants Warlock And Karma For THE NEW MUTANTS Sequel

After today's terrifying trailer scared the pants off X-Men movie fans, director Josh Boone has revealed some of his plans for the possible future of The New Mutants franchise. More past the jump...

Whether the trailer for The New Mutants has you excited or not for its April 2018 release, we can all agree that it was quite the shock.  Director Josh Boone said it would be straight-up horror and he appears to be hell-bent on delivering on that promise.  And it's certainly a new look for a superhero movie.

Boone had previously said that he pitched Fox a trilogy of New Mutants movies and in a recent interview with IGN, he revealed that he already has some plans in place for the direction of those eventual releases.

"There's some things I can't talk about. I can just say it is connected to and a part of the X-Men universe, and will continue to be a part of the X-Men universe and will be a part of that as it opens up in the next movies and all that.

Every video complains online about characters that aren't in it right now. I will say we're going to introduce new characters in the next movie as well. Characters like Karma and Warlock, and all that will be in future movies."

Boone did also mention that, while this current film is heavily influenced by the Demon Bear Saga (New Mutants #18-20) written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by Bill Sienkiewicz, the Demon Bear is not the film's primary antagonist.

"I wouldn't want to give away too much. Although I will say there's stuff you'll never see in the trailers that are big parts of the movie."

What we've seen of The New Mutants so far looks truly original for the genre.  Anything with a character like Warlock in it can't help but be equally unique.  What are your thoughts on Boone's take on The New Mutants?  What characters or storylines would you like to see covered?  Share your thoughts below.

The Sequel?

I though it was another TV show.

Today there are TV trailers and series much better than the FOX NEW MUTIES

@Highflyer - I´ve watch a trailer where I can´t find any of the characters of the NEW MUTANTS that I read at the comic-books.

Just another FOX garbage

@lvcl - The lineup are all these characters:

What you expect colorful costumed heroes? This doesn't seem to be aiming for the colorful-family film like spiderman homecoming? That's even dumber.

@mastakilla39 -
You must be a FoX-Men lover or an employee of that company that haven´t read a comic-book in their live

Maybe the movie characters have the name or power but not the personality and history. Without that the characters are less than zero.

I think that is dumberer a superhero on tight shirt like FoxVerine

Spider-Man Homecoming get worldwide the same money than all the Fox-Men movies together

This trailer fits with new cheap TV series and a copy of Nightmare on Elm Street movies

@lvcl - You said they don't have the personality or history without even seeing the film. All we saw is a teaser, how much character information were you expecting?

@lvcl - you must be a fool or disneyland employee, this is an adaptation. I dont remember the MCU or Spiderman homecoming being completely accurate to their comic origins. You're just butthurt and nitpicking because you didn't see any fancy suits or forced-stupid-comedic 1 liners. Who knows Magik may actually be related to colussus and this can connect to deadpool in present day. How the [frick] do you know if its accurate or not, there has only been 1 teaser and no plot?

The x-men franchise has grossed way more than all the spider-man films put together, get your sources right. Homecoming has no since of creativity or originality its just a formulaic MCU film that panders to the disney audience. Logan is a better film and he didn't even need a suit or iron man cameo.

This trailer looks more creative than homecoming, black panther, and thor 3 because its actually a horror genre blend that has not been seen in a CBM. MCU is doing nothing creative, just throwing a shit ton of heroes, cgi, and action scenes. their plots are so forgettable and unimportant to future films.

Fox is smart, by making cheaper films like Logan, Deadpool, and New Mutants the director and writers get more creative control at creating something new and refreshing to redefine the superhero genre. MCU and DCEU is just flooding the market with the same kind of high-budget CBMs that all look same and pandered to stupid people who think all comic book films should just be full of action, comedy, and spectacle.

FoX-Men lover and X-Men hater. You are so angry cause you know that my words are true

Creative and original? Redefine the genere?
Ha Ha Ha. Don´t make me laugh

Movies of terror and people with superpowers like mutants there is a huge list that of course you haven´t seen.
You could begin for the most recently Miss Peregrine´s home for peculiar children

...or Netfix´s Strangers Things where you can watch the balloon wall effect that you like so much and a child with psychokinetic abilities

You hate comic-books and don´t respect the original source. You are an ignorant. Your words define yourself.

@lvcl - Its obvious your in denial. Your favorite cinematic universe didn't do it first and had no balls to try anthing new. Your mad a franchise you hate is getting praise for trying something different in an oversaturated market. Films like SM:Homecoming are just forgettable cash grabs.

Stranger things is a scifi horror film and Miss Peregrine is a based on a children's book with no relavence to CBMS. Just because a film has kids with powers doesn't make it a CBM, it's like saying Looper or 6th sense is a CBM just because the kid has powers. It's obvious you don't understand CBMS or comic books and just trolling on something you don't understand. So...

The anger consumes your bones FoX-Men lover

Your beloved future movie adaptation of the New Mutants is just a copy of Miss Peregrine and Stranger Things and destined to fail at the Box Office.

The only original thing on that risky movie is turn a Cheyenne warrior like Daniele Moonstar into SnowWhite

Of course that the writer and director of NM don´t know that Magic is the sister of Colossus or her real mutant power as it happened before with Havok on First Class

And who is that mentor of that team Dr Cecilia Reyes? In comic books she has nothing to do with leading the New Mutants.

Is this the CBM that you defend? Cause it has nothing to do with comic-books. One thing is an adaptation and another one is having no idea about the original source.

If you like that bullshit you hate the real New Mutants
Creature with a little bit of grey matter your favourite movie must be F4NTASTIC FOX

I don't get the hype behind this it looks like just a normal scary movie nothing special and don't get why use the comic book images when this movie has nothing from the comic books
