LOGAN Star Dafne Keen Confirms Early X-23 Spinoff Plans; Hopes To Reprise The Role At Some Point

Though it's looking increasingly unlikely that we'll see Dafne Keen's take on X-23 again, the Logan star has confirmed that there were tentative plans for a spinoff in place before the Disney/Fox merger.

After Dafne Keen's acclaimed performance as Laura is 2017's Logan, it was generally assumed that the young actress would get the opportunity to reprise the role down the line. Of course, that was before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox's assets in last year's highly publicised takeover.

5 Intriguing ways LOGAN May Have Set-Up Future Movies In The X-MEN Franchise

We had heard rumblings that tentative plans were in place for X-23 to return, either in a Logan spinoff or as part of another X-Men project (X-Force seemed the safest bet), and Keen has now confirmed that the idea was on the table.

“I got told by some people at Fox that there might be another one, but this was ages ago when we were filming, and they haven't contacted me ever again,” the His Dark Materials star revealed to Elle, before adding that she is still hoping for a chance to don the claws again.

“I feel like we're just at the beginning, there’s more to be told, and it's a relay race. I come into play when they've already written and done pre-production and decided on doing the film, so as soon as they say, ‘go,’ I'll happily go whenever.”

Marvel Studios is expected to reboot the X-Men and all associated characters at some point over the next couple of years, so the chances of Keen being asked back seem slim. Then again, we recently got confirmation that Ryan Reynolds will be suiting-up as Deadpool again under the Disney banner, so you never know!

Would you like to see Dafne Keen return as X-23? Let us know in the usual place.

I mean your using the same same electro actor without it being the same character from the previous movie so anything is possible now

If they were going to do it, I know for a FACT that they would’ve brought Sabretooth back. Don’t forget that he almost appeared in Logan.

They could have even made it so it was a reversal of Logan’s relationship, where Victor tries to encourage her violent behaviour. It literally writes itself!

Marvel should not introduce Wolverine until later down the line. Don't put him in the first X-Men movie. Wait until at least the second. I also wouldn't mind if X-23 becomes the MCU's Wolverine and Dafne Keen reprises her role.

I also would like to see Anya Taylor Joy come back to play Magick. She was my favorite part of The New Mutants.

Eh. We haven’t even introduced mutants. Pass.

@SanFranLand - well she is only 15, should still be young enough when the time comes to use the character, probably in a 2nd or 3rd entry in a wolverine trilogy

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if she reprised the role

@BlackBeltJones - If Jamie Foxx can be brought back after that terrible amazinf spiderman 2, then yeah, they should for sure bring her back, when the time comes to introduce x 23, probably in the second wolverine movie

if we get an MCU Wolverine trilogy, bring her back for one of the sequels, she is the right age for the comic version and considering they never actually cast teenagers, she should still be the right age when they get to using X23

Honestly she’ll be the perfect age to be a regular X-23 by the time they’d get around to X-Men, especially if they decide to wait a bit before introducing Wolverine.

Sadly will never happen. I genuinely did want to see 1 more with the finish of her journey.

I feel like Xmen is Marvel's biggest thing right now that's currently in the works..(well that we know of)
This is gonna be one of MCU'S biggest movies, like up there with Endgame.

After seeing how they are going to bring back Ryan Reynold's portrayal of Wade then it is only fair that Dafne Keen gets the same treatment in playing X-23.

With that said, recently a few days ago the rights of Daredevil (and pretty most likely much the rest of Defenders Netflix characters) got back officiallya at Marvel and I've seen Vincent D'Onofrio fan campaigning to let them reprise the roles.

The pandora-is box has been opened, that is all I am saying.

Better be a good story to tell is all, and not just doing it for the sake of doing it.

Hire Mangold and let him do whatever he wants. Doesn't have to be MCU

I really wanted to see this movie.

And X-Force by Goddard but alas...Clearly, we don't live in the absolute best timeline, so...

I like Logan more than any movie in the MCU (and any movie DC's made other than TDK), so I'd be down.

I see absolutely no reason to reboot the X-Men franchise with the MCU. The Fox films for the most part where decent, one or two bad bits but there again Marvels own films are not without their own issues, see the whole Mandarin issue or the Hank Pym/ Ultron mess for details. I’d continue on with at least the majority of the actors where possible just sliding in a few new ones where necessary. I for one really don’t need to see a whole load more origins story lines.
